Traffic question for all you traffic warriors?

Traffic question here again, As I have been working my butt off all day working and researching and looking for a perfect niche. I wonder if I am going at this all wrong. I guess I am more concerned about being indexed on the first page of the search engines for my given keywords. Obviously all the organic traffic would be ideal and perfect. But is it necessary?

Should I be super concerned about organic traffic or would marketing to the article directories with good quality content bring me alot of traffic without getting indexed?

So I guess when it comes down to it, my question is more about how much traffic can come from article marketing while working to get indexed on first page? I will be doing lots of things for traffic etc with the goal to be indexed but I understand that takes time and is not always guaranteed.

And how do I tie all this into the tools we use to evaluate a keyword? Should I be more concerned about low competition? Or maybe just be concerned with high search count?

The niche you are choosing doesn't just depend on your seo rankings, but also on whether the niche is profitable, if there is a demand for it.

Secondly Search engine organic traffic is not the only source of traffic, there are 100s of other sources, but SEO is a good one, because it is targeted, and can convert well (if done right). However for ranking for particular keywords you have to understand the basics of SEO on page factors, off page factors, link building, anchor texts, etc.

Low competition? high search count? Ideally you have to get a combination of both, low completion words which get a high search count, but this is not always possible.

Try searching using google adwords keyword tool found here

    I would go for
    • Searches between 2000-4000,
    • Exact match,
    • see the global monthly search volumes
    • Try long keyword phrases (3-5 words)
but don't beat yourself too much over this, the best keywords are the ones which are most targeted to your pages/niche. However these can be highly competitive.

Yeah I guess maybe that is my problem. I am looking for the perfect keyword. I have researched probably 30 niches today. Using Market Samurai, and think I am just over thinking this thing.

I am mainly going to focus on Affiliate products to start and would ideally have my own product soon as I have a few ideas.

SO I guess there are other traffic sources to drive traffic. Here was my thoughts.

      1. Article Marketing to 3-5 main sites.
      2. Social Bookmarking to many bookmarking sites to build backlinks.
      3. Video Marketing to various video sites.

Those would be my main source of promoting. AM I thinking the right way? If I have good quality articles daily and great quality video etc in theory should I be able to get traffic to my landing page without having to worry about being indexed? I guess I was under the assumption that the reason to do all these things was to get indexed? Again I know I am over thinking this whole thing?

Magoo, it sounds like you may be a little confused. The three methods that you describe above will bring traffic in and of themselves (article marketing and posting videos to youtube especially), and it's just an added bonus if they get indexed. A lot depends on the keywords that you choose. Obviously if you're going to pick something with extremely high competition it's quite unlikely that you'll show on the first page of google for it, but you'll see some traffic nevertheless from your efforts. The key here is to be consistent and submit articles and videos everyday, and don't forget to bookmark consistently as well. You will see the traffic snowball over time by doing this, so do not treat this as a "one shot" deal where you spend time submitting lots of articles and videos in a burst of effort, and then stop completely.

      Paulie:

LOL well I guess that was the straight laced answer I was looking for. You know had you asked me my own question a week ago or even a month ago I would of answered the same way you did. I guess when you really start to get into different things and do them for yourselves you tend to over think and just rack your brain when you get to thinking one way.

Thank you for getting me back on track and focused. Hell I have many niches that I like now....LOL
