Whose Newsletters Do You Look Forward To?

I used to subscribe to several newsletters, but have left them for various reasons. The only newsletter I subscribe to right now is Paul Myers TalkBiz News.

I want to get on 3-4 good newsletters again. I'm talking real content newsletters, not marketers mailing lists.

I'm not going to say which topics I'm interested in because I want this thread to be useful to everyone. I thought a nice thread of good reads would be beneficial to the Warriors and reward a few publishers who give out good content.

So whose newsletters do you look forward to reading?

Mr. Myer's has a great newsletter and I recommend everyone get on it. Perry Marshall is a good one too, especially his blog. Most marketers do not provide good content to their lists. They treat their lists to sell to only. I can surely understand that, but I think IMO the best practice is to mix in good solid content, and actually help people....

...especially if this is the business you are in (list building and management). Everyone has their own philosophies, but what caught my attention in this business when I first got started was the good/free content that was available.

When i started in this business, I got on every tele-seminar I could get on. I read emails after emails, and LIVED in this forum here. The WF was my home and I read posts here until my eyes were bleeding.

I dont understand personally, why marketers do not provide their lists with good content. If you got the "goods", then by God, let it out there to folks. If you have good content, word travels. I've seen Paul's newsletter recommended here about a billion and a half times, there's a reason for that.

    see?

    Rock on homies,

    Eric Louviere

Hate to sound redundant, but Paul Myers TalkBiz News is the only one for me.

I unsubscribe to lists more than I subscribe, but I enjoy Paul's newsletter and blog posts.

Paul Myers and Martin Avis have my two favorites, too. Those are the ones I always read and often save or print.

I have a few other lists that I also like to read but they aren't really newsletter type lists.

I don't subscribe to newsletter, instead
    I subscribe to blogs.

first of all, I can subscribe by RSS, which frees up a
substantial part of my email, and second, most of the
time blogs are filled with great content, not promoting
anything, unless you want to look for something in their
    sidebar.

My advice: subscribe to blogs, not newsletters.

Which do I look forward to? Short list...

      Paul Myers, always.

Perry Marshall, when he's in teacher mode.

      Marlon Sanders, same thing.

Dr. Glenn Livingston, most of the time.

That's about it, if you're going to stick with that "look forward to" filter. Lots of others in the hit-and-miss category.

    Hope it helps.

I ran over to subscribe at Paul Meyers immediately. YES, I am so tired of all the junk lists I am subscribed to. The only reason I don't quit them all [I have quit most of them] is because I belong to their services, and receiving all of this junk promotion is part of the deal to receive service update and info.

Actually I had given up, surrendering into accepting that all marketers have agreed at their yearly meeting in Vegas to exploit their list to the maximum, pestering us with promotion only.

Well there was a time I enjoyed promotion from expert marketeres. I looked at it as reviews. Big was my surprise [;-(] when I learned that most of the time they just cut and paste ready made promotion review letters from the advertiser who also amazingly accidentally happens to be their good friend at the same time..........

Most often they didn't even look seriously at the product they promote. So much for their expertise.

I hope its gonna be different with Paul Meyers though.

        • Maybe it's just me, but I just unsubscribed to Perry Marshall's newsletter. He sends his newsletter out way too often. I probably get something from him 3 times per week - and each "issue" isn't exactly light reading. Maybe I'm on multiple lists from him, but I got tired of seeing "Perry Marshall" every other day in my inbox.

The only newsletter I subscribe to now is Paul's. Well, actually I subscribe to several newsletters for competitive intelligence but Paul's is the only one I actually "read" and enjoy.

        bwahahahahaha....

I used to get this one, but I kind of outgrew it. Not that they don't put out good information, but for the cost I was seeing diminishing returns as my knowledge of SEO grew. It's a natural attrition for newsletters of this kind.

To each their own, but you're missing information that isn't posted on blogs. For example, in my newsletter I offer special prices on new products, freebies, and content that I DO NOT post to the public. If you don't subscribe, you don't get the subscriber-only goodies. Many newsletter publishers do this very thing because we believe in rewarding our subscribers for their loyalty to us.

Paul has a way of writing that entertains as well as educates. Very enjoyable, I think you'll like it fine. I'm glad I could send a few subscribers his way, he's as deserving as anyone, and more so than most.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this thread. I'm going to check out ones that are new to me and probably sign up for some of them.

Anyone else have newsletters to contribute?

PS - In case anyone is wondering why I thanked some users and not others, I just thanked the first person who offered a newsletter that hadn't been mentioned.

I hate Paul Myers because he has probably sold me more stuff than any other single person I can think of. I love his newsletters too, but they are dangerous for me to read, lol.

Note: Paul's products are great too, my anger is in him producing so much stuff I actually want, and then telling me all about it in his wonderful newsletter.

He's very sneaky what with that whole "good content makes people like you and buy your stuff" thing. Even if you don't like his down-homey charm, just watch and learn by reverse engineering.

Thanks for the Avis mention, I'll be checking him out too. But hopefully he makes terrible products.

But I never unsubscribe from anything. I like to study what people do. Note, if you use Gmail, you can basically have a million free email addresses and keep everything sorted, and even get in on split-tests that bigger marketers run if you're in there more than once.

    That's always fun.

I'll jump on the bandwagon for Paul and Martin as well. Great stuff.

I also usually read immediately Dr. Ralph Wilson's Web Marketing today.

While not exactly a marketing newsletter, I also read the day its available Jonathan Bailey's Plageriarism Today - which I highly recommend if you're a writer or concerned with IP. Plagiarism Today - Copyright, Content Theft and Plagiarism

I have just a few others but they are in my main industry's space and the VC space so not really appropriate here.

Paul Myers, I will always remember reading your

Maybe 4 or 5 years ago. People reading your newletter

              colorful lanuage.

Your comment back to all of these people was simply

Alright, something just happened that is weird, so I'm going to hijack my own thread, which is also kinda weird.

Anyway, I just clicked the button to thank Paul, and my thank you button disappeared, but the thanks never showed up on Paul's post. I also have no option to remove the thanks, so apparently it didn't take, but my thank you button is gone.

I've also had other strange things happening here lately. On another thread I clicked the thank you button and the Firefox version of Notepad opened with raw code. I've never seen that happened before. Been getting a lot of database errors and pages timing out lately too. Is any of this happening to anyone else, or is my computer going freaky? Everything else seems to work fine.

On another note, thanks for the suggestions, folks. I've several new newsletter to try out now. Much appreciated!

I had no idea so many people eagerly await my witterings? How to feel humbled and grateful all in one go!

Thanks to everyone who has mentioned my Kickstart labor of love.

I concur with all the comments about Paul Myers and Dr Andy. They are top of my list too. But don't forget Harvey Segal - he is always worth reading to see what twisted kind of spin his curious mind puts on things!

I'll add Jonathan Leger to the list. He's a very talented programmer/marketer who sends an email ranging from a few a month to once a month which points to his blog. His posts are full of great insights and specific case studies backed up by proof and hard data.

If you like SEO then definitely head over to his blog and sign up to his list.
