What is digg

Hello warriors,

I heard very much about digg. Can anyone explain the use of digg? What is digg all about and how much it is useful for our site?

I guess it is used for bookmarking your site. Am I right? If not so, please correct me with details.

Thoughts are really welcome!!!!

    Digg isn't what it used to be, but its still useful. Its a site where users submit pictures, articles, interesting stories, photos, videos etc. and the user base "digg" it or "bury" it. If your submission gets enough diggs, you'll move to the front page for a HUGE surge in traffic. But for us marketers, digg is a great way to get your site indexed fast!

      Hi Jason,

      You mean to say if I submit any link in our site from digg.com then I can get a huge traffic on my site. Am I right?

        At least for me digg is just a total waste of time. I don't have the slightest problem getting sites indexed but don't use digg to do it.

        For traffic I think you have to join the game to get it. I've submitted pages that were really good and got over 40,000 visitors from other sb sites. Total digg traffic has probably been less than 20 visitors.

        There are digg groups that will get you 100 diggs the first day which is the kind of start you need. I don't like doing that kind of stuff and haven't bothered. There are some sites and pages that get popular without any of that of course if a person hits everything right.

        I rarely even go there any more but one day saw a page with more than 1000 diggs and checked it out. It was a page comparing products like **** berry to get guys ripped. Each product had an impressive before and after pic and a cpa offer. I expect the first 100 diggs had to come from a group.

        The person who put the page up probably did really well, so smart marketing, but hard to believe that it would get all those up votes. It reminds me of a saying 'no one ever went broke by underestimating people's intelligence.'
