Hello everyone,

I have two questions I need help with:

- Where can I get pictures for my website? EX: if i had a exercise website...where could I get exercise pictures.

- If your website has the same picture that another website has, does that hurt your Google Rankings?

I guess you meant FREE pics for your site. Here are a few sources:

1. www.sxc.hu: Make sure you read the terms and conditions on pic usage. Also, leave a comment for the pic you are using. You can also leave a backlink to your site while you're at it.

2. Copyright-Free Photo Archive: Public Domain Photos and Images: Public domain pics, so you can do anything with them without any obligations.

3. BurningWell.Org - Free Public Domain Images and Photos: Again PD, so you're free to use them any way you like.

4. Free pictures - Freepictureclick.com: Make sure you read the terms and conditions

5. Roofing :: All CG Textures - Free Textures :: High Resolution Texture Library: Nice collection of textures which you can use for various purposes.

istockphoto would be my recommend. 'Free' pics are often too wrapped up in needs for attribution and I'd always worry about rights. For the images I use I pay about $1 for each one for the size I need and I can use them multiple times on the same domain with no worries about rights. If Getty, who owns istockphoto have not sorted thoat out yet I'd be surprised.

Maybe you want to consider taking them.........a decent digital camera and you would have pictures no one could match.......

There is a ton of free photo software available to "work" them for your site....

And you would have no copyright worries....

Talk about unique.....and Google spiders can't read graphics...yet....

Photo: free photo and free stock photo - Photoxpress They are a great place. I get all of mine for free through them =) Hope it helps.

google "clipart" and "royalty free images" and you will get all companies.

Istock is great, but I'm a contributor so that doesn't count.

I wonder if you can help me? I am going to be making use of I-Stock Photo (because their range is so much better than the other stock photo sites), but I am unsure about one thing: how small/big are the images they sell? i.e. will a small photo image be usable, say, as cover art for a book? Or does one have to buy the bigger and more expensive images for that sort of thing?

I use dreamstime.com for my pictures. There are free ones on there, as well as pictures that require payment.

I don't know if it can hurt your rankings but I use "unique" picture/images on some of my site and those site are getting a crazy volume of image search per month (compare to keyword search).
Therefore I guess "unique" pictures counts .
