We all know that the money is in the list, but..

OK,

The money is in the list, but!

The general opinion seems to be $1 per month per opt in.

So 8333 on your list = $100,000 per year

there for 83,333 = $1,000,00 per year

Do we agree?

No....it's not that simple. When people come out with figures like this I wnder how they do it? Is it on their own lists/own products?

If I offer anew product to my already hot list I sold to recently I might get a 20% buy rate. Then I create a report how I got 20% buy from a 3,000+ list and made XX$'s etc...

But it's a very deceptive piece of bending the whole truth.

$1 per email...per month? If that was the case I'd simly buy the biggest list possible.

Remember people buy.... we go on and on about lists, hits, CTR%, etc forgeting those are people.

I agree totally, when I mail my buyers list, with another one of my products, they will buy again from me as they have had a good product with good service.

I wonder where the $1 month model comes from?

According to your above figures, if you put out just one tiny report worth a measly $5 per month, you'd make $1 per email per month.

      3000 people on your list.
      20% buy = 600 buyers
      600 buyers X $5 = $3000
That's $1 per email in one month.

Maybe the buy rate isn't as high. But maybe you're promoting more expensive products. It can still come out to at least $1 per email per month... on average. Plus most marketers send out at least four emails per month (one per week), so that's four opportunities to sell something.

Of course, just building a big list won't make it "push button easy" to make $1 per email per month. You need to build a targeted list of prospects and buyers. And then you need to build a good, trusting relationship with these prospects and buyers. That's the key. Do that, and it's more than possible to get $1 per email per month.

      cheers,
      Becky

The number as I have experienced it in the past, comes from people that email affiliate offers everyday.

At one point that was just the way to do things. It still works, but it's not my cup o tea. Anyway over a certain list size you'll just get people that buy stuff and for the most part it tends to come out to $.50 to $1.00 per sub.

But...if you are more personable, don't mail bomb people daily, and have your own funnel you can do much better.

Another point....you mean 83,000 people who actually read your email and not the list size? Big difference

I was staggered to see how low my email open rate was. Less than 20%. So even if you have a list of 100,000 I'd be amazed if more than 25,000 actually opened it.

I've seen in happen time and time again. A new blogger or list owner will declare themselves as having made their success in a non-IM niche, that they are a normal person, not an IM guru. Then they entice others into their list and start promoting IM products and services their way...
Yeah this is a real issue with me... They use people who purchase there product to then become affiliates for them...

I do believe in following something you are passionate about... But what happens if what you are passionate about does not really have a strong market... ???

I know this is probably unlikely due to the worlds population being around 7 billion people.. So you would have to think there are people out there with the same interests as you...

Sorry I am getting sidetracked .... I think that the techniques that guys use for internet marketing some of the basic prinicples can be used to create a successful business in any niche..

So to learn your skills from someone who is well established in the IM circle can only help you with your online career...

A guy I find to be very honest and helpful is John Delavera... He gives a lot of great tips and techniques to help you with your online business..

    It's simple math.

Depending on your conversion and the cost
you're paying per click, you can figure out
an average number of how much you're getting
    per opt in/per hop/per visit.

Let's say that you're paying a dollar per click and you're converting
    at 10% on a 100$ offer.

It means that you're generating $100 every 10 unique visits(on average) which
means that you're revenue per visitor is $10.

But again, I have to emphasize the point of it being an "average",
    not a constant...
