Your WSO looks good, but I'll wait for reviews..

I keep seeing comments like that on good WSOs made by good Warriors. To me it only serves to cast doubt over the quality of a product and encourages others to do the same.

Really, what's the point of saying that?

I don't run a WSO so it's not a self-serving post here, and I can kind of understand comments like that when it comes to WSOs from unknown Warriors, but when it comes to the trusted decent and honest guys and gals, are the people making those comments being a pain in the ass -- just because they can get away with it? Do they get a kick out of hurting Warriors?

It's a crappy thing to do to hard working folks who produce awesome products.

It's something people can post when they have nothing to say but want their link seen - or feel they need to say something....anything.

It gets funnier when people do answer that question and tell of their results...usually the poster who asked for "reviews" then asks for "more reviews".

I don't think it hurts the WSO - it says more about the person posting the review request.

    Just people being people.

So true...it seems some people are either unconcerned about how people perceive them or they just don't think before posting.

As far as I'm concerned, posts like that could be reported if the WSO seller doesn't like them.

Don't such posts break one of the rules of the WSO section anyway? Namely...

If you bought the WSO you have a right to comment on it. However, if you have not bought it you have no right to say anything at all about it. You have no basis on which to even give an opinion one way or the other.
Therefore, if they didn't buy it, they shouldn't even say "looks good, but..."

    All the best,

I have the exact same impression when I see things like that. In fact, I mentioned in a thread not too far back. From what I received in responses, I think we're in the minority but I agree that all it does is plant the seeds of doubt.

What's the best response - just click the Report button to flag it for the moderator team?

Yes, I believe that would be the simplest way to do it. Plus, include your reason for reporting them.

I suppose giving them an infraction, or sending them a PM could do the trick in some cases.

I BOLDED what I think they are being...lol

Seriously, though, maybe it's up to everyone else to somehow keep these people in check?

No you won't. Not if you don't want me breaking out my Becky voodoo doll and the really sharp pins.

OK, fine. I'll respond. I need my other ear.

First, I agree with the notion that getting link exposure and upping the post count might be a motivation... for some.

However, I think it's another way of fishing for a free review copy. Since buyers can't come right out and ask for them any more, they need to hint around. They want the seller to PM them and say, "well hey -- here's a free copy -- why don't YOU review it?!"

        Cheers,
        Becky

      Indeed!

This reminds me of one time many years ago when my aunt took some strange prescription medication that caused her to literally say everything that popped into her head. Like I was gesturing with my hands while talking and my aunt says, "Becky is mimicking [whatever the topic of conversation was]."

I mean a thought popped into her head and BOOM... right out her mouth.

That's how some people on this forum behave. But some thoughts are better left untyped.

      Cheers,
      Becky

P.S. Dennis, you caught me. Trying to up my post count. I hear you get free ice cream in the War Room when you hit 3000 posts.

Argh! Free ice cream. That's two days in a row someone has mentioned ice cream to me, and ice cream is my weakness. Now that "ice cream" has been planted in my mind, I can see I'll be gaining some more weight tonight. Sigh.

Could be running up post count, flying link sigs in your wso or... it could help bring a buyer out of the woodwork to post a review who might not have otherwise.

I don't think it hurts the seller and may possibly help.

It doesn't turn me off from buying seeing a post like that, especially from someone who has been around awhile.

...and not all reviews are going to be publicly posted either, I've had some customers email me privately telling me how much they liked my work/products but to forgive them if they didn't share it openly because they didn't want the extra competition, unbelievable.

So a quiet thread doesn't always indicate an unsuccessful one.

I agree with Michael, it seems a clear violation of that rule to me. And I always think about it when I see those type of annoying, useless posts on WSO's.

I hesitate in reporting it since unlike posts elsewhere in the forum that warrior paid money for that ad. Maybe they don't want me reporting those posts on their WSO. Dunno.

Not only are WSO's very reasonably priced, almost all of them that I've seen offer a money back guarantee so peeps need to cough up the $7-$40 for it and if they don't like it then get a refund and leave your review vs. "waiting" for a review (if they love they should also leave a review IMO).

WSO posts asking if anyone has made money with this WSO are also annoying. Buy it, implement it, and try it yourself within the guarantee time vs. waiting for other people to work it because they're too lazy to try it themselves.

    Hi Alan,

I agree. That's why I think it's best to leave it up to the WSO seller to report them. However, if someone else wanted to report them there wouldn't be anything to prevent it.

I do think it's a good idea to call out these comments when you see them, helping your fellow Warrior and all that, but at the end of the day if enough WSO sellers take action against it maybe it will become one of those valuable unspoken rules.

I agree with the original poster. It makes sense for people to wait for reviews if they dont know the seller. However, the rules clearly state that you can not say anything in the thread besides ask questions about the WSO or comment on the quality IF YOU BOUGHT.
