How Many of You Twitter?

Hi Warriors,

Just a quick thought. How many of you Twitter? I have been online for a long time, but recently just got involved in twittering (more so on a personal level)? If you do Twitter, feel free to follow me and I will follow you. I find Twitter quite interesting. You can find my twitter account at twitter.com/MikeRyans. There is nothing special posted yet, but I will get around to it sooner than later

    Michael,
I use Twitter a good bit and have serveral twitter accounts for different niches. I have found that while having a lot of followers is some sign of popularity, retweets tend to get read far more often than general tweets. That is why I put together Tweet Ninja Master to create Retweets from my blog to the followers of other members of the Tweet Ninja Master network. You can check it out at Twitter Tools

Michael, welcome to this forum, and also the wonderful world of Twitter! Twitter will serve you well, as long as you remember the golden rule - treat people exactly the way you want to be treated.

I am not ready for Twitter yet. I know it can be profitable but so many other options also available.

Still not sure if this is a fad, I know I saw some stats recently about many people leaving Twitter. But that is most likely normal since it was such a buzz in the last 2 years.

I don't tweet to promote anything. I used to tweet because I loved tweeting. Now I got tired of it. Followed you by the way Mike.

I need to start getting involved in the Twitter world as I feel like I am getting left behind. I wonder if Twitter is here to stay and for how long. As with other social media sites, some flourish and others just fade away but I think Twitter will do just fine.

Quite bizarre. When I came up with my business name 'Arcasmia' (an anagram of Sam & Ciara, my 6 month old twins) I took the Twitter username too.

Today I signed up for the 30 day challenge and started following the 3 guys from 30DC. Now, 3 hours later, I have 58 followers.

How did that happen? Twitter feeds don't show a message when someone follows someone do they? How did all these people find me all of a sudden?

I can understand it on Facebook (as new friends are posted on others home pages) but Twitter?....

    Cheers
    Mark

Not really a mystery, Mark. Several Twitter apps (including TweetAdder) allow you to follow the followers of a particular user. In Tweetadder, you can "search by followers of another user" or "search by users followed by another user" and then you can choose to follow the entire group.

And of course you can also do it manually by displaying a user's followers list and then just going down the list and following each one of them individually.

Thanks, I've never got into Twitter that much to start using apps other than Twitterific for iPhone. Tweetadder sounds like a handy bit of kit, thanks for clearing that up! You learn something new everyday. At the minute I'm learning too much

  • Twitter is a great platform for making new connections. As with other networks, give before you ask/sell. Also, its the quality of followers - not quantity - that really matters.

Amen, I heart Twitter and have made some amazing connections on there...probably more valuable than a lot of people w/100k 'empty' followers who don't give a crap what you're Tweeting cause you're just another number for their profile. I've written several posts on this topic on my IM Connections blog and I whole heartedly stick by them.

I'm a selective follower, love to engage, and don't use any auto stuff for Twitter.

I used to use twitter a fair bit with a few accounts, and generated quite a bit of good traffic to a few blogs. I don't use it quite a much these days as it's starting to get very spammy...
