Hey all. This is my first post on the site but I've been browsing for a few days and I like what I see. I've got a few questions though. How do I create a website specifically made for marketing an ebook? The sites that I always see are the ones with equal margins on each side with multiple testimonials and whatever in the middle, and a buy now link at the bottom. Sorry I cant post a link, apparently you need to have more than 15 posts. I'm sure you have all seen them though. Are those types of sites way too cliche? Is there a better marketing strategy for ebooks in general? What kind of ebook specific tips can you throw my way? My basic plan is to do some research on any given subject then create a related ebook and hype it to no extent. Of course I'm not going to rip people off but if I'm not mistaken, most of the ebook market is centered around desperate people and fast sales. That's just an idea though, so let me know if you see any glaring flaws in it please. I have some other questions, about referrals and in general the best way to get started with online marketing, but those will be saved for another time. Sorry if the entire post seems totally noob-ish. If I've violated any rules or general common sense/etiquette please let me know. I learn best from mistakes. I hope to get to know you all soon! |

I would HIGHLY recommend you begin with Pat Flynn's Free eBook Creation Guide located on his blog... The Smart Passive Income Blog - Passive Income Ideas and Online Business Tips of course, you have to register for his newsletter...but, his guide is so jammed pack with information.... Have you read it yet? I've recommended it to quite a few people here already.

Welcome. Your questions aren't really 'noob-ish' they're pretty valid. The sites you describe that are marketing ebooks are set up that way because that style and format work, ebooks sell with that setup. As far as "most of the ebook market is centered around desperate people and fast sales." That's totally untrue. Some of the market is that way but certainly not most. There's a trend in marketing right now that centers on finding 'desperate' people who are in a position to pay to have their problems solved. Maybe that's what you mean. I think it's funny that it's perceived as a current trend (in the IM community) because marketers of all types have been doing this since the beginning of time. I'd suggest that you read a lot here before jumping into anything right away. There are many ways to make a legit buck online and you'll learn about a lot of them right here. Good luck. |

Standard ebook sales pages look horrible but there is a reason that everyone and their mom uses them - they convert. Read up on it more (good places are clickbank related forums and guides) and learn the important aspects such as a solid call to action, testimonials, etc. |

Thanks for correcting me there, Travlinguy. I'll be sure to do some more research before I make any firm decisions. I've always been rather impulsive >.<

If you are looking to sell ebooks inside of niches on your own, I'd say to do it through a list. Build your list through articles (can be done very quickly), give away your free product over 5 or 6 emails, ask the list what they need help with, solve the problem, sell it back to them. Then just keep driving traffic to your squeeze page.

eBooksCreated.com - Your Complete eBook Design and Content Center There is different pricing for services that build on each other. Just a little out of you budget range, but, if funds ever become available...might be something to consider down the road....
