eBook for Creating eBooks

Hello,

I am in the process of creating my very own eBook, but I needed some direction on how to go about doing this. I was wondering if anyone here knew of an eBook or website that they may be able to direct me to that might be able to help me in achieving this task?

Thanks for your help and advice in advance.

I had so much success with it....I can't help but referring everyone to his free guide.....

of course, you have to join his newsletter, but the value of his book is HUGE.....

Kept it by my side during the entire time I produced my 6 eBook course....

Razor, I'm glad someone else uses OpenOffice. I've been a long-time open source junkie and it's nice to see that other people are using and promoting it.

Good luck with writing your e-book. I've done several "ghost" e-books and I know, while it is a fun experience it can be quite demanding. Especially if you want to create a quality, top-notch product.

  • Creating something is an incredibly satisfying thing to do. I think you need to take action more than reading anything more on this.

I assume you have thought about what your ebook should be about? Your niche?

Step 1: Gather all the information you can about the topic and keep the links, files and everything else in a folder on your computer.

Step 2: Take time to organize your thoughts on how you want to present this information. Prepare a table of contents (TOC) first.

Step 3: Start writing. Let the writing flow from your heart don't bother correcting or editing in the process of writing. Just let it all flow.

Step 4: The writing process will take a few days time -- so don't push yourself hard; just let it be. Finally, after you are done, edit your own work or have someone else do it for you.

Step 5: Get the graphics done. Find an e cover. Go to http:stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site or http:?/everystockphoto.com to find free images for your ebook. Add a header and footer. Add a copyrights page and a conclusion.

Step 6: Publish it as PDF.

    There, you are done.

Write a report or ebook and convert it into a PDF file and give it away for free. When you convert your material to PDF it (mostly) ensures no one can alter your material in any way.

You can easily create PDF documents using Open Office:
OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite

Writing a short ebook is relatively easy. If you already have several articles written then you can put them together with a page break between each one. Add to the front of your ebook a title page which has the title of the ebook, the author's name and a copyright notice. Following the title page is a page with the Table of Contents. That's all there is to it.

Here are some tricks to get traffic from your ebook:

    * This may seem obvious, but it has to be said: Make sure your ebook has real value to the reader! All of the ideas below will be totally useless if your ebook is worthless to the reader.
    * At the top or bottom of your ebook put a copyright notice that allows people to share your ebook with others. The idea is to get the ebook distributed to as many people as possible.
    * Put a link to your site in the front/title page of your ebook.
    * Many people finish reading something and ask themselves, "Now what should I do?" You should put a link to your site at the end of your ebook.
    * Put a link to your site in header or footer of every page. You can also put an enticing (and relevant!) affiliate link in your header (for some extra cash) and a link to your own site in the footer.
    * When you link to your site make sure the link is enticing, promising additional information.
    * Many ebooks have an appendix at the end. Instead of putting an appendix in your ebook put the appendix on your site and link to it. This not only sends traffic to your site but also allows you to keep your appendix up to date, adding further value to your ebook.
    * There are many people with large email lists in your niche. Find out who they are. If my niche was Poodles I would Google poodle email list or poodle newsletter or poodle news and see who comes up in the search results. Chances are they have a sizable email list. Subscribe to their list and respond to one of their emails. What you're going to offer them is to have their affiliate link at the top (header) of every page and you keep the link to your own site in the footer. All the list owner has to do is send an email to everyone on the list with a link to your ebook. The list owner wins by having an affiliate link in the ebook being distributed and you win by having everyone on the list read an ebook with a link to your site!
    * Find other people selling related products and offer to have your ebook bundled with their product. In return give them a link in the header of your report.
    * Submit your ebook to sites like Scribd

    Fred,

If possible, when creating your eBook (dependent on the niche), I would highly recommend extracting subject matter that you may otherwise include in your Main Book....but, extract it, and create complementary stand-alone, "Guides"....

...(niche dependent again)....rather than release just one eBook, release a course with 5 or 6 eBooks....absorb the little extra cost for extra eBook cover graphics.....assign a value to each 'complementary' guide you add to your package....

And...push an even higher price point with your entire 'course'....

People LOVE feeling like they are getting MORE of something....if there is subject matter that you can extract from your Main eBook, I would strongly consider doing that....

    Make sense?
