Which forum software to use for a forum dedicated to religion, philosophy, self-improvement?

Is it important to decide which forum software to go to if your forums is only about religion, philosophy, self-improvement, and nothing to do with making money? However, if it doesn't matter at all which forum software have these features (because that will help me make make my decision a lot quicker!):
1. Can disable newly registered users from posting any new messages or anyone basically with the fastest way possible?
2. Have newest Recaptcha
3. Easy to upgrade to the newest forum software updates.

Please inform me if you know the best forum software for me!

I would suggest you take a look at phpBB - it's free too!

vbulletin, but it is a bit pricy.

That is what this forum is, and is simple to use.

vBulletin has to be the most user friendly forum software available. There are some very good free ones (though I personally dont like phpBB) but for overall functionality.. the small investment in vbulletin is usually worth it.

Well, if you're going for a free script then I'd recommend MyBB. All the other free forum scripts are bulky and do not load fast.

    Hi,

I like Simple Member Forum (SMF). It is free, but has a lot of features the paid forum scripts have.

Here's a forum I just set up using the latest version of SMF: http://longevitydiet.com

Bill Myers has a great instructional DVD on how to set up a forum. I don't have a link, but nose around his site at bmyers.com.

    Good Luck,

    Phil
