Probably a stupid question, but does anyone know if every webhost (like hostgator and bluehost) is on a different ip space (range)?

They will if they are true hosts and not just a reseller. I'm guessing most resellers would be working off the real hosts IP range.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Actually it really depends on what ip class you're talking about, but Dennis is correct.

If your "real" question is how to set up sites for SEO purposes, then Hostgator has what they call SEO hosting and all sites are on a different class C address.

Wow, sweet! I had no idea they offered anything like that.
