I think my head's about to explode!

I started writing a lengthy post about being responsible when you're ill - but as I'm not 100% at the moment I couldn't get my thoughts straight and kind of proved my point to myself.

So to simplify my lengthy ramblings:

  • When you're ill, realise your new limitations and accept it.
  • If you can't keep up with your usual pace, accept it.
  • If you feel like you need a break and maybe a lie down, take one and accept it.

Be responsible to yourself, your family and to your business. If you're not thinking straight then that's when poor decisions can be made, bad copy written, lack of creativity emerges and you can lose money!

There's a stack of other stuff that you should think about, but... I can't think of it at the moment. I'm going to switch my PC off and go have a lie down.

- Peter

PS - Ideal solution - don't get ill in the first place !! lol

PPS - Thanks to the help desk for changing my username - awesome

    Peter,

How true. We all try to carry on when we don't feel 100%, but I think the time would be better spent taking a break to recover.

This is another point I forgot to make, thanks for reminding me Barb.

Working whilst you're ill can be very counter-productive both for your business AND your health. Not only are you susceptible to making costly mistakes in your business, but you can actually prolong your illness for weeks, even months beyond when you could've been fully fit.

I can think of not better an example of this than a few of my neighbours who are farmers. Hernias seem to be somewhat of an occupational hazard in the farming industry. Absolute rest is the only way of recovery following surgery, yet so many of these guys go back to work far too early and end up back in hospital and totally unable to work for an extended period of time.

I know it can be frustrating and you can even see yourself losing money, but it really is worth taking the right amount of time to recover. Wait till your fully fit before going back to work and you'll probably SAVE money in the long run.

PS - feeling better this morning, just taking it easy and listening to my body.

Very true Peter. I had a spell for about 8 months in and out of the hospital at one point.
My time was very limited on the computer, but I don't think many noticed, as my autoresponders just kept sending those newsletters out. It was so nice.

Sometimes It can be difficult realizing new limitations, but accepting yourself as you are at the time makes it easier. Just go withit and take care of yourself.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.
