Just found this and thought that I would share the information.

I am not an affiliate ... have the same standard program on my computer and love it.

The only point that should be made is a good headset or microphone may be necessary later.

A headset is included with the system, so first give that a try.

    I wish MacSpeech Dicate worked well, I think I speak to fast for it to work effectively, my poor hands would appreciate it with this estimated 13,000 words to write this weekend.. . That's a great deal though, these programs are usually much more expensive.

    I have found that DNS is about 99% accurate

    It takes a short time to train it to accept your voice, about 20 to 30-minutes

    Saves many hours while making articles, emails or doing Skype

      The Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 is sold on QVC UK for £110.00, I was tempted to buy it but I am glad I didn't. It just goes to show that you should shop around, $43.99 at Buy.com is less than a third of the price...

      The reviews though are not too positive on the QVC website but still worth a try as I have seen good reviews here & elsewhere.

    This is a great program and definitely worth the price. I saw an offer they advertised on TV and it was for $49.99 (2 months back). A good headphone is a must and believe it or not, a $17 logitech microphone from Walmart works really well.

    I already had a headphone by HP that cost about $20 that I used and it is fine.

    Some folks have had good luck with the headphone that comes with the system.

    Be careful comparing DNS 10 prices. There is the Standard and then a Pro version.... might not be called "Pro" but it's basically a version with more bells and whistles. And the Pro costs a lot more.

    So Standard works just fine, you say? I have been mulling a purchase lately.

    actually there are 3 versions

    $99 sounds like preferred
    wireless so you can walk around

    the pro regular retail is like 600

    The new preferred version works flawlessly (almost... better than I type anyway... fat fingers ) after it gets broken in and learns how you talk, maybe you have an old version. If so an upgrade would be cheap (and if you were squeaky enough, they might upgrade you for free.)

    It works so so. I've done two of the training modules on it. It still gives me trouble between you and view, and the problem is when you say view it clicks the view menu and won't type any more until you click off of it, and usually by that time I've lost my train of thought. I've only used it a couple of times and I'm using a plantronics wired head set so I'm willing to blame it on those two things.

    So can you absolutely not use a bluetooth headset for the cheaper version or is it that it just doesn't come with one? I was wondering about that, seems like it should work with any input method the computer can handle.

    You are correct that wireless is the big difference

    When you are looking at that screen while dictating .... Wireless does not mean too much to me.
    Then your headset will cost more as well.
