Hi All, EDIT: Putting this here so as not to bump again. Everything is back up. That was a long 24hrs.

First off I know that subject is a very dramatic statement, however it only applies to my Internet Marketing World. All else is just fine. Perhaps I'll regret the title later but right now this minute that is how I feel.

I have had the same hosting for a few years now and once in a while I forget to pay and they are very nice and give me time. So imagine my surprise when I tried to FTP some files and I couldn't get in. Never in years has my FTP failed.

Well, no panic, I'll check things out, I think to myself.

I go to my main site, it's down. I go to my other sites they are all down. I try to enter my forums via the only URLs I can recall (redirected to the forum hosting) and they are all down.

Did I forget to pay. Oh yea it was due yesterday. I guess no more leeway for Ol George.

So I go to my host's website to pay and they are down. Not a payment problem after all. The entire kit and caboodle is down.

I start to sweat bullets, My sites represent literally hundreds of man hours and hundreds of gigs of uploading. To reconstruct everything will take me every day for a month or more.

Now I really start to panic, "What about my friends who buy my products?" What about the Warriors who need access to my downloads/WSO purchases, etc. etc.

Well, I've taken a deep breath. I've started formulating a plan to get things going again. It's not a matter of not having backups. I've got enough backups to get everything back up at least 80% which will be just fine. So after taking a deep breath, and convincing myself that "this too will pass." I'm in for either a wonderful surprise when my host suddenly appears and says "Every thing's good to go George," or I'm in for a very interesting month or two as I repair 10 years of building and uploading.

Warriors, Wish me well and please understand if my stuff is not available for a while. PM me or email me "important needs" as this will help me put thing in order. Right now it's just a big blur. (I know, eat that elephant one bite at a time.)

Thanks,
George Wright P.S. This post might not even be necessary, everything might be OK any minute now. I just needed to talk.

Hi George I had the exact same thing with godaddy today.
I was seriously panicking but after I found the problem (wrong card number) I payed it and it was up and running in ten minutes.

If godaddy can fix it that fast I am sure any other company could do it faster LOL

    Cheers,

But that's fine! You shared an experience that I and other newbies can learn from. Plus, you're probably feeling better because you got everything off your chest.

Hope all goes well from now on. Remember that you can't/shouldn't quit now.

    Good luck with everything.

Are all your sites located in the same datacenter? If so that could be the problem as well. Had a big problem a few months ago where half the servers in the gnax datacenter in Atlanta were not accessable for a good chunk of the day (could be why your hosts site is down as well). If you know what datacenter you are in you can try their forums and see if there is a problem there.

Well, a decent host will certainly be able to sort the thing out for you. I expect the payment being overdue was almost certainly a co-incidence.

You are correct on that one, I'm almost 99% sure. Unless my missed payment bankrupted the company .

I'm still waiting for some news, good bad or?

George Wright, P.S. Please all, understand my OP was not meant to slam the host in any way shape or form. Even if they are gone forever I understand stuff happens. I'm just not looking forward to a month of redoing everything. Then again maybe it will be fun. Yes, that's what I'll do if I have to rebirth my little IM business I'll make it fun.:confused::confused: I already have two other hosting accounts ready to go for just such an emergency. But resetting all the DNS on over 120 Urls and uploading TONS of stuff will be so boring. NO I'LL MAKE FUN, I WILL, I WILL

I hope you get this resolved. Better pour yourself a nice cup of tea (or something, um, stronger), step away... and I bet they'll fix it in the meantime.

George that is enough to make my hair turn gray. Wait it's already gray.

This Old Geezer was glad to listen to you, but next time don't be such "Drama Queen" .

You know I'm with you and please don't forget to send me all the downloads when you get back up. My hard drive will hold them and I will be your guy to go to the next time your world ends. :p I will immediately set up a new PayPal account to take your clients money, so no worry man I have your back.

George has provided absolutely valuable information since I joined Warrior Forum and I thank him for that. Hope everything works out for you. Now I'm thinking to get separate hosting Cpanels so this doesnt happen. Im on a mission to launch 210 websites by the end of March. I have 44 Up and running already and starting to get loads of traffic and sales are coming. Maybe I should split these up with different hosting companies.

George, I know how you feel. I used to have all my sites hosted with one host, and that host got knocked out because of a major storm. The host was down for days, the whole city was a mess, and I was out of business temporarily.

Since then I have spread my sites out among three hosts. Yes it costs more, but hosting is so cheap it costs less for three hosts now than it did for one when I first started. Now if one host goes down, or a site gets hacked, I'm still in business with the majority of my sites. Plus, for me at least, it costs less to pay for three hosts than it does to be out of business for a few days because all my sites are down.

    Good luck, George.

I have been thinking of getting an account with another hosting company with backups of my sites. Just in case something like that happens, that way I only need to change the nameservers. Stories like this just tell me I really should do it, instead of only thinking about it. Guess I'll go hosting hunting tomorrow

I really hope everything turns out okay for you though, George, I would hate to 'lose' a month because of redoing all the work.

George, that's horrible! I'm sorry you've got to wade through that and hope the lights at your host suddenly spring to life again instead.

(Furiously scratching note to self - "Reprioritize importance of backing up my files and get second hosting account as you've told yourself to do a hundred times!")

PS - Having just come from Zeuss's thread on making sure we stop to have fun in our business to this thread was a bit like hitting a brick wall with a smile on my face. Hope you understand I'm going to have to go back to the other thread.

    Hi George,

I hope everything will be alright soon.

I think most of your warrior clients would
understand it if they can't access some
of your downloads. Especially now that
    you mentioned what happened.

Do update us about your situation, and
if you need help maybe in testing links,
    don't hesitate to ask.

and...like what the "Old Geezer" said,
if you need new paypal accounts I can
also set one up to take your clients
money, we have your back on that one

    All the best,

    WAIT?!?!?!?

So you didn't pay by mistake and payment was delayed ONE DAY....resulting in ALL YOUR SITES BEING DOWN, VANISHED.....probably for good?

    You must be joking.

I had my accs suspended for various reasons occasionally, and i never heard that a delay in payment would equal a termination of the account + sites. This is extremely, extremely unlikely. There is always a way to get the suspended sites up shortly thereafter and i am sure its just a short phase of panic (understandable tho : )...if NOT...you better tell us the host name because it would be an utter joke.

First - thankfully you and you're family are ok - the subject caused some concern at first (nice copywriting :-) )

Next - thanks for pointing out what can happen online - and that we should be prepared. either with backups or by spreading our sites around town. I would also mention you should not host your sites at the same business where you register your domain names.

Finally - if you need some space/hosting George just let me know(PM or email) I have plenty available to help out to someone who has helped me and other warriors. Just let me(us) know - we're here to help each other!

    Good luck,
    --Jack

ps - if your daughter is in the same boat the offer is of course extended to her. And if she's ok since she's hosting elsewhere or pays her bills then hopefully she's not sticking it to the old man too hard :-)!

    Hi All,

Just as I was resolved that things couldn't be much worse the power went out for blocks all around. So then I couldn't even come here, at the time my only reason left to even go online. LOL LOL LOL.

I started to post here using my android but then my wife says, we better save our cell phone batteries in case the power is off for a while. (I have two cells with 5 spare fully charged batteries and she has one cell with 4 fully charged spares but I guess we were now in what if the lights never come back on mode ) Of course my magic jack needs the PC on to work and with the power off no PC. EXCITING!

Well, the power is back on now.

Now all my sites (somewhere around 100-130 are all back up. Only one problem. THEY ARE ALL EMPTY INDEX FOLDERS.

I'm hoping the host has things backed up some where.

As I mentioned I already have another host and today I got one more.

I was so ready for something like this a couple of years ago. Had crucial sites already uploaded ready to go etc. Then I got complacent because nothing ever happened except a down time now and then. After I get this mess fixed I'm going to put my entire network of sites and uploaded files on two different external hard drives.

All and all it's been exciting. Thank you all for your well wishes.

I don't have any off liners to talk to about this except Tammy.

You know, me to friends, "All my sites are down today." Friend, "That's nice, urrr, or too bad, uhhh, what does that mean anyway, you mean your Google is down or your Yahoo?" Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I'm saying all this to say. Be prepared. (note to self, be prepared)

A valuable lesson learnt. Thanks for sharing!

Hope all is well, all your sites up and running by now.
