Why am I not seeing any money?

O.K., I'm new at IM, so, if I sound a bit off, I apologize in advance. I researched my keywords with google insights, trends and keyword spy, looked very promising. So, I built a squeeze page. I submitted a quality article to ezine, articlebase and a paid directory. My keyword landed #2 spot on google page 1 through articlebase. I was very excited to say the least. But, now, it seems that I'm still not receiving much traffic. I have yet to make a sale. It is an affiliate based site. I built a nice WP Blog, better than my blogger one with same material, but no visitors. I have submitted a couple more articles, but if i am already #2 why should I do more? Also, I don't really have any backlinks, so I will be searching the forum for a reputable supplier. I am also looking for a mentor. Any advice?

P.S.-my keyword showed up on google insights as very relevant, but not sure I trust it anymore. I also spent a little money with adwords but most traffic came from less relevant keywords?

Does the keyword you're ranking for get a lot of searches? If only 10 people see your link a day, you aren't going to see much traffic...

Also, write your articles with the future click you want in mind. In other words, call it something that will get clicked on, rather than something boring or normal-looking (your title will normally end up as the link in the Google results).

My advice would be to submit as many articles to Ezinearticles as you can, and then after you have a few hundred hits you'll know if your site is converting.

It can take time to see traffic from just one article, so you'll want to submit multiple articles.

You also need to pay attention to what anchor text you're using for links.

It looks pretty obvious that you keyword or keywords just don't bring much traffic. Before you spend any more money on that project I would suggest running a $20-$50 test in adwords. Set your bid just high enough to be on the first page than watch the impressions.

Did that and I think your right. I think I chose a keyword that was just to narrow. I thought if I were to be very well defined, I would not have much competition. Oh well, I will keep working on it, but move on to greener pasteurs as well.
        Thanks

Yeah, I just submitted a couple more, but went off course a little bit. Funny, that you mention anchor text, I went back to change my link from my blogger account to WP Blog, and I ended up dropping down quite a bit, any chance google's relationship with blogger might have to do with that?

truly article marketing will not bring in instant traffic.but you did not tell us how many article you have written so far

you also need keyword that will prompt instant clicks from people.

keep doing what you're doing and i assure you that very soon you will start getting results

Honestly, 1 article just isn't going to get the kind of buying traffic that you need. Do 10-20 articles, same keyword, mixed up content, posted in several different places, make a blogger blog with the keyword, post the article on US Free Ads, build a squidoo, point all those back to your site, then you might see some results. Don't get frustrated with just one little article that isn't producing sales. Later, rinse, repeat, you'll get it!

Are you talking about the site in your signature? Also, are you sure you're really #2 and aren't seeing personalized Google results?

If you are at #2 and not getting any traffic - the keyword is a dud.

      Keyword tools lie

I'm tending to agree with you on that, but will keep at it a little longer and do a little tweeking like suggested above. I'm not totally sure about the #2 anymore because I changed my links from blogger to WP Blog and it started dropping quick, changed back, we'll see. Dumb move, actually. My WP Blog just looks a lot nicer, but I'm quickly learning that something doesn't have to be dressed up, just good content, i think? I made very, very sure that my keyword was exactly within the 4% to 7% rule for my articles. That really works.
Thanks again for all the awesome replies,

no, my blog is definitetly not #2, far, far, far from it. My article is or was I should say, under articlebase, it's Why Choose the Greek Mediterranean Diet? May I say, it is quite uplifting to get so much feedback, wasn't expecting this, thank you all. I trully mean that.

Try a variety of traffic generation methods and keep testing and tweaking your page to see if it converts. Depending on the conversion rate you need to send lots of visitors to see if it's working or not...like if the conversion rate is 2% that means you will generally make 2 sales for every 100 visitors to the page but you can only know this after you keep testing. Also, the traffic needs to be highly targeted so they will be interested in what you have to offer so your keyword may not be the best one for the product?

Personally Tristan Bull gives great advice, I've applied his stuff and seen results.

    Hope this helps.

My results show the article as #7 and it has 34 views. Unfortunately that doesn't give you much traffic to work with. I'd work on optimizing your wordpress blog - your posts are in the Uncategorized category. Also it's a little confusing that your links to the Greek Mediterranean diet go to your post on juicing.

In fact, if you click the link for the Uncategorized category, it doesn't list any of the articles that are apparently filed under that category. It gives you an error message.

      Fix this.

And get rid of that category. Rename it something generically appropriate for your niche. That's a category that can't be deleted since it's the default category. If you forget to mark a post with a category, it will be filed there.

Think about the various sub-niches within your main niche. Make categories for these sub-niches.

Also, your blog is supposed to be about the Greek Mediterranean Diet. But you have stuff about juicing, burning calories, great tasting, and amazing results. These are off target and too vague. Is this site about juicing? Is it about burning calories? If you're looking to laser target the Greek Mediterranean Diet niche, these are making that target fuzzy.

Make articles about specific Greek dishes. The keywords naturally occurring within a post about particular Greek food will directly relate to your main niche keyword.

If you want to make a blog about burning calories, then make a generic diet blog. As it is, your aim is too far off center.

actually i also checked through your blog and what i found there is quite not intresting.

you need to concentrate on just a niche, your keyword article should only focus either on your greek meditaranian diet, or any other keywords you want to use to promote your affiliate product.

    1. has your keyword (phrase) a high commercial intention?
(i.e., is it actually a buying word? )
for example, you can find it here
    2. my 2 cents: I personally don't find your site's structure comfortable & interesting for reading
but this is just my 2 cents

You did everything right, you've done enough work, IM doesn't work, you should quit now and cut your losses.

    Hi lilbrk4lilmac

If your keyword is OK, then great.

But you need TEN articles, not one. All a bit different - especially the headline and opening paragraph. Create some fantastic, attention-getting headline ideas for your articles by looking at what are the most popular posts on Digg. It's mostly the headlines there that get them to the top of Digg. Adapt these for your article headlines and include your keyword if possible.

The material you put on Ezine articles also needs a variation put on GoArticles, and several other directories. But that is just the start, you need to leverage this work further.

    Suggestions:

Read all 10 articles into separate audios, make MP3s and put them on iTunes, with the right description and link back to your site. Then also make a movie of each article in Windows Movie Maker using the MP3 audios. (All this needs is 3 or 4 useful slides in the movie, not video footage - that is too much work). Put all the videos up on YouTube, or better still use TubeMogul.com | In-Depth Tracking, Analytics for Online Video | Web Video Syndication who will send them out to many video sites for you at no cost.

Be sure to use your keyword in the video description, and equally importantly, put your website address right at the top of the description, so it is the first thing viewers see.

Look at the most popular videos in your niche, and use the same tags they use. But don't copy people's names.

This is just the beginning of what is necessary to get traffic, because EZine articles is so saturated with material you need other things happening. You can do many, many more things like this to re-purpose your articles and get people to your site

    Hope this is encouraging.

    Jonathan

To me the site is too busy. Are you selling the diet or the juicers or gloves? I would focus on one thing on the site and try to sell one product then see how it goes.

Go to hubpages.com and write related articles, then link from hubpages to your squeezepage. As a bonus, you will earn some Adsense income.
