I know how and I have tools that can do it - but.

My advice is not to bother.

These communities revolve around relationships and building a massive following of random people is a really ineffective way to operate in these social communities.

Don't buy into the hype people are selling you about mass following etc - all you end up with is a Twitter account that you can't use (because of all the noise and spam coming your way from the 'people' you have followed) and waste your time trying to 'turn them into buyers'.

They're great communities for making friends and getting business - but not when done en-mass.

Andy, he was talking about having people FOLLOW YOU, not you following them... nothing wrong in tools having people follow you, you know. In fact my twitter affiliate script due to be launched in a week or so does it and will also come with a facebook follower too at some stage after I've checked their terms and conditions out.

Yeah I understand that - but most of the get followers by following others.....

Building masses of random followers that you have no relationship with is not a great strategy.

I understand that you obviously have a certain position on this considering you're selling tools, but most people are buying this stuff just because they think they're missing out - rather than because they need them or indeed will use them in a way that is as effective as other things they can do instead.

I've purposely avoided selling Twitter related tools, even though I had one buit for myself over a year ago because most people just don't need them.

I'm not going to say you shouldn't be and I'm sure you have good reasons for wanting to sell your tool so we can probably just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

at the time it was a good idea. some of the well known marketers used to do it (mentioning no names), and some have stopped cos it lacks value over time.

Right way is to build targeted visitors who have the passion to be in the same niche as you, one will get a better clickthrough on any links one posts eventually on their twitter updates.

I'm not selling tools. I've created a TOOL that I'm selling that STICKS to the rules of Twitter. I've not seen any tools that does this, in fact it's quite unique - since it follows the rules and who these days follows the rules?

Not the tools that are flying around, no, since most just have their account ended up suspended for breaking the rules.

You can't say you have to agree to disagree when you've not even seen what mine does yet.

Yes, both are available and they are products of a warrior. His username is LivelyBrowser.
Here are the WSO's he offered them on. Maybe you can still purchase via the WSO. Look for his name and they are the 2nd and 3rd threads listed.

Well, I have come across some sites in which when you register or advertise yourself, they claim thousands of users will right away follow you.

I found a note on this. You may find it useful too. 5 Steps to Automatically Add Twitter Followers | Social Media | Core.

There's a lot but they are not good for long-term business... If you are promoting a seasonal product then you can use them...

Stay away from ALL those tools .. Do not buy them and do not fall for the broken promises.. Instead try building relationships with real people and be a real person yourself while you are at it ...

I fully agree with Andy that posted above...

    • The negative perception regarding the adder tools for twitter and facebook here is largely due to the tool vendors' abuse of Twitter / Facebook's terms of service. These top social media sites provide you with API / web services that include follow/friend functions for a very good reason. If they thought its not worthwhile, then there would be no reason for them to do that.

A tool could be highly valuable if it allows you to follow/friend with users of similar interests / similar locations / similar niche in a highly laser targeted fashion (and I don't just mean keyword matches which is what the above adder tools do) that, in turn, leads you to getting high quality followers/friends that could end up being your customers/partners over time. Such a tool could save you several hours of your time each week or month depending on how closely it matches the actual activities you may perform to enhance and grow your network.

They have an API to build apps and such, this is correct.. But fact is you or nobody else can hold a relationship with 5,000 people. Come on get real, you want to call someone your "friend" but yet you know nothing at all about them because you use auto tools to manage your account.

Social Media is just that - Being Social! Login your account and find those that share your same interest and build a relationship with them. Become apart of the community and give value to that community.

Many that use these auto tools and those that create them have one thing in mind ... Get a bunch of fake friends and spam them with my offer. They have no interest in holding a real conversion or finding out more about the person. They do not care what your favorite color is, or what your likes or dislikes are, and they certainly do not care how life is going for you.

What they do care about is if the person has a similar interest so they can push their products, affiliate links, and other junk...

Social media is NOT a marketing platform, it can be used to help brand you and make sales but mass adding and auto posting your offer 20 times a day is not what the sites was built for.

        • I agree for the most part. One needs to use social media to add value to their friends. Just as with other media, its not about you, it should be about them and the value "they" get from the relationship. Using these tools with the only intent of promoting / hard selling them actually may not work in the long term (think email spammers).

There is however, a positive role for tools that are highly effective in narrowing down people with very similar interests / specific needs so you don't have to go find them yourself or wait in hope that they would be able to find you.

Exactly! It's these people who started the bad name of such tools in it for only themselves and how much money can be made from those who fall for such promises.

My tool doesn't promise you'll get a lot of followers. How many followers you get depends on how many visitors to your site gets, plus other variables and totally within twitters terms of service.

Yup, mine doesn't probe a person's twitter follower list, or probe / scan for keywords on twitter profiles.

Check your PM, i'll send you the landing page, which is partially complete. I'd like to get your feedback on it if ok?
