Making Money as you Meet People

When I think of some of the very best things that happened to me in life, they started as a result of me meeting someone. Back in 2002 I met someone at an Argentine Tango conference. Neither one of us did the Argentine Tango. His wife was selling dresses, and my wife was there to watch. So he and I became friends, and he went on to sell xxx,xxx of my services to his clients.

I've had limited success on forums like this, and nearly every time it was a result of first someone PMing me, followed by a phone meeting. I had one great contact here last year like that, and a couple of smaller ones too (right here at Warrior).

I think one of the big problems many face is simply a failure to meet people in person, whether it be on the phone or face to face.

How important do you think phone and face to face are in your business?

Extremely important. Meeting somebody in person instills trust, confidence, and ethics. It is much easier to have a productive and balanced partnership when people meet in person or at least via phone.

All forms of communication are important, but nothing beats face-to-face for building long term relationships. People like to do business with friends and friends get together for coffee, drinks, etc..,.

I'm someone who can talk to people all day...if you're going to Underground 6, then chances are you'll talk to me

It's crucial in certain industries. I think IM can be one of them. It depends on what your business model is. If you're solely into selling products online through your sites, maybe it's not as important. But if you do any selling to other marketers... info products, services, mentoring, etc.... then I think you need to meet people. At least talk to them over the phone. You don't have to, but I think it can mean the difference between an ok income and a comfortable living. Assuming you're not a jerk to people, of course.

To some extent, I disagree about selling products online. Now you may not want to talk to people on the phone or in person about selling individual products, but developing distribution channels can be very lucrative, and often you need to get yourself talking to people directly to get somewhere.

Now generally speaking most great opportunities for me caught be by surprise. For example, it so happened that someone I know from a long time ago had referred me, and it led to a meeting that resulted in a contract to build the in house software to run a medium sized company.

But I think that while there can be some randomness, we don't just "get lucky". Instead we set ourselves up to be seen by the right people.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

    Hi guys

ive met all kinds of people at conferences and the trust and friendship is still there today. You can sound out ideas face to face and enjoy each others company at the same time as getting the best jv deals.

Though on the downside you can meet some real idiots at them too - but at least you know how they are before you go into business with them.

    Kind regards

It depends on what kind of collaboration you are involved with. If you can verify the results without face to face interactions, then it's not as important. Face to face meetings are always helpful for building trust.

I prefer face to face whenever possible. I'm from a sales
background and I prefer to get in front of people whenever
possible. I'm more charming that way(I think haha). It doesn't
have to nessessary be face to face but if I can have more
than one way to get my thoughts across such as a webinar
    that I'm all for that.

Also I'm a firm believer that you can still tell a lot by someones
    handshake.
