yes get a coach or mentor now

it helps you stay focussed
also there is normally a private forum where people are focussed and helpful too

I consider the Warrior Forum as my mentor honestly. Any questions you have can and will be answered here. I always wanted a mentor before I found WF, but never had the money to afford it. Now, it's not a problem.

That's a very good way of looking at it.

If you haven't got enough funds to get a real mentor...The WF is great as everyone knows, you can literally find the answer to anything you want. As long as you have a plan for your business and continually keep working and tweaking it as you go along... you'll do very well.

Would you not argue that the point of a mentor, is not just to tell you what to do but actually guide you through the stages?

I agree there is a lot of talent here on the forum, but how many of them can seriously have to time to follow you personally?

For me at least, a mentor is personal to you, and invests in your future.. for whatever reason..

and if what i say above is correct, then I take back Malcolm Gladwell as my mentor, he is infact an inspiration, not a mentor...

  Absolutely. I'm a firm believe in good mentors. No man is an island, as it is often said.
  
  I've never been good at winging it and learning it on my own. I've always had to learn from a good teacher.
  
  There's a lot to be said for good guidance. Find a mentor that suits your learning style and stick with that person if they're working out for you, and as you advance in levels, you'll probably want mentors to keep bringing you to a higher state.
  
  Even Emmett Smith needed a coach. Tiger Woods, as talented as he is, still needed guidance with his game...golf that is.

  To my way of thinking you're right, but it seems to me a lot of people are confusing a mentor with someone they draw inspiration from.

This is a good question. Everyone, it is said need a mentor . A person who guides himself or the so called self made person tend to have limitations and stumbles on the way. One can avert various loopholes in the endeavors by following certain concrete methods from a qualified person.

I do believe in mentors and would suggest anyone who could afford to get one-they can stop you from wasting a lot of time and money and point you in the right direction and save you frustration. But I couldn't afford one, so I had to do things the hard way.

I think everyone needs a mentor, or 2 or 3, in life and this business is no different in that regard. I think what is different though is the difficulty in finding an IM mentor. They cost money. The WF is a great source for information and the 'keep going, don't give up' support. But when what you need is a person to show you how to do something you have to be in the right place at the right time....or perhaps that's the right thread at the right time. Someone who will look at what you are doing and say 'I see where the problem is, you need to do this and this because you have that in the way'......That kind of mentor is worth their weight in gold.

Anyone wanting to mentor me in the art of making my blogger blog or WP blog work how I want it to, please email me.

Reading how to do doesn't work for me! LOL.

Personally mentors have fast tracked me 100 fold. Over the years I have had different mentors and I've changed as I've progressed. Same with a coach.

The mentor gives me the guidance, my coach keeps me accountable.

Most of the top guys I met all have their own personal mentors and coaches. Same with world class athletes.

Ben, I think you hit it...

Some people are confusing Mentor with a coach or an inspiration but really the job of a good mentor is to give good guidance. A job of a good mentoree is to take as much out of the guidance as possible...

Makes me wonder why everyone does not search for a mentor.... it's usually free...

That is not a mentor, that as you state is a source of information...

A mentor can help open doors, point you in the right direction, keep you focused on what is important and most importantly help you make the change in mindset needed for success...

Im pretty sure Google can not do all that in the time and with the friendliness that a mentor can ...

The only problem with that is, Google is not a person with experience. I feel that an effective way to learn is to learn from someone who has done it all and had some success. It's also inspiring, which means for good motivation.

I don't. That is one of the things I was looking for when I started (in fact I'm still looking for), but they don't seem to be out there. Not only that, but when I read names about mentors I've never heard of them. I worry too much about is this another scam.

May I ask, what you have done to acively search for your mentors? (eg, have you been to offline events, or is it mainly trying to contact them online?)

The reason I ask is that I also mentor very few people, I simply do not have the time. Those I do mentor have been previous colleagues who have shown outstanding ability, or people who took the time to follow my ventures and have shown support for my projects over the years)

With so many people online, it's easy for a mentor to get booked up... you have to try and stand out for them to take notice...

I looked online for my mentor. I've never been to an offline conference about IM and I never thought there was one until you mentioned it. I found one person that was charging 500 dollars and that was a bit much for my budget right now. However, as many people online working on this and their tenacity to get better, I can understand how it can be so difficult to find one.

Mentors are your particular field are extremely necessary.

But because the term comes from an old era we think mentor
as one on one like a carpenter and an apprentice type deal.

Due to the acceleration in technology you don't even have to
meet your mentor.

Lets say you resonate with Frank Kern, you buy his courses,
watch his videos, and follow his model and systems. He is
your mentor.

The problem with the whole "The warrior forum is my mentor" stuff
is that you are just getting a whole lot of perspectives on one subject
which most of the time are from people who are not as successful
as you want to be.

The point of a mentor is to lay out is to guide you in a specific direction
so you can accelerate growth and knowledge in a specific field.

There's 1 million different ways to make 1 million dollars online, but if
you don't find one way and stick with it, you will find it hard to make 1 dollar.

I find the best onlien mentorship comes in the form of membership sites.

If a marketer you resonate with has a membership program I'd join that.

Yes I have a mentor. His name is Larry Rivera and he is always available to help me become very good at making money online through using attraction marketing methods. The way network marketing is set up it is designed for you to have a mentor, and at some point become a mentor for others.

I had one person, about 5 years ago, who after one conversation on the
phone with this person, my whole life changed.

After that, I had a mentor who taught me copywriting and that was the last
piece of the puzzle for me.

Since then, I've been on my own and trying to do what I can to help others.

Right now, I think it's probably exactly what I need as I had a little bit of success(by my standards) last month, but am now struggling a bit with direction and prioritizing. I can't really justify paying for one at the moment though, but maybe in the future. I tried to get some advice on direction/prioritizing earlier today in a thread here but after 2 replies the thread died

Absolutely. I will always have mentors because you can always learn from someone else's knowledge base and life experience. I will have them until the day I die because no one can possibly know everything or master everything.

Besides, mentoring myself can get a little boring............

Never had a true mentor but there's certain online marketers that I pay more attention to than the others.

And there's certain successful online marketers whom I study with a desire to replicate their strategies and techniques a LOT MORE than others.

ok, Im a little confused...

Are we confusing a coach with a mentor? The reason I ask is that so many people are saying they have no money for a mentor, but you should not be paying cash for a mentor... thats not the point..

A coach does it for a business... and focuses on steps.

A mentor tends to be someone who worked hard for many years, now is successful and wants to use some of that time to educate a younger hard working person, so that someone else is inspired by their legacy...

Maybe, mentors do not have to come from Internet Marketing at all. One of my current mentors comes from the TV world, and he has taught me a lot about how to handle high end clients and the art of networking (i've been taken to very high class engagements).
In return I give him some yoga tips...

It's like having a father figure... and thus money never comes into the equation.

I'm lucky to have a brilliant mentor. Without his support I would have been completely lost with where to start in IM, especially at the beginning where it can feel like an overwhelming black hole. He moves so quickly too and is always so on the ball; aspects that I definitely aspire to achieve.

I think it's super important to have a mentor, or a coach, in any area in life you want to achieve something. Whether's it's your health, your business, etc.

To me, there are two kinds of mentors.

Those that a relationship evolves with naturally, we resonate with them and it's an equally beneficial relationship. I.e. you benefit from being mentored (learning, sharing experiences, tapping into their network) and they benefit from being a mentor (rewarding to share their experience, learn by teaching, leave a legacy).

Then they are those who market themselves as mentors. These are the kind of mentors that you might find by doing an internet search, and they will likely charge for their services. Your relationship will probably focused through goal setting, and planning to achieve results in certain areas.

I have several mentors. One that has evolved naturally and he has taken me under his wing as I build my business internationally. Another one for IM, he markets himself as a mentor and is very successful. I learn a lot from him (mostly in group situations like private forum or workshop) but I also resonate with him personally and I can contact him if I want to.

Those of you who say the WF is your mentor, you need to be very strong with your vision and goal setting to be able get the same benefits here that a real mentor could give you. Here you can find information and help, but you still need to implement it and hold yourself accountable.

In general, those of us who have a mentor, or are wanting to find one, will accelerate their success faster. Not only because the mentor helps, but also because we're the type of people who recognise that being part of a team, and learning from someone else, will accelerate success. Doing everything by yourself will be boring, slow and painful.

Not at the moment although I do have partners and friends that are more experienced than me in various fields that I can bounce ideas off (and they do the same to me in the fields I know a lot about).

Would like to get a mentor/coach to step it up to the elite, elite level, haven't found a good opportunity yet.
