What is the best way to protect my course?

I have an online course which I'd like to protect.

I tried just password protecting the directory of the course with an htaccess file but I got a number of complaints from people who are not able to access the course.

Almost all of them were caused by people mistyping the password, but 2-3 were just not able to get in.

Is there a better way?

Thanks. I checked out the thread.

The original solution didn't work for me since people posted the download link for others to see.

But there are a few other solutions offered there, including DLGuard and e-Junkie

Which is the best? If I'm already getting software I would like something that offers an affiliate program as well.

Invest the money to purchase a quality membership system.

Most of the scripts available will do what you need to protect your content right out of the box. However, you should look at what you want to accomplish with your site and purchase a script that will not only meet your current needs but will also allow your site to grow and allow you to impliment new features with little trouble.

A quality script such as RAP with the membership add on, Simple Member Pro, or Launch Formula Marketing will meet your current needs and will have more than enough features to allow you to add more to your site as you grow without having to completely change the backbone system running the site.

Many people like using Wordpress with a membership add on. This can work well but Wordpress itself does have several known security issues and isn't a true secure platform designed for content protection.

It's best to get a good system in place now so that you don't have to go through major headaches later on when you find that what you have in place won't work for you and you have to scrap the entire thing to start with a new system.

Sara, do you have the course dripfeed or do they get it all at once?

The script Johnny said are excellent but if you want a simple solution which is cheaper use BigMike's ezlesson. I have used it for courses and it works.
