Ebook upsell funnel Help

Hey guys, i currently sell an ebook for $27 dollars and i decided to make use of 1shoppingcart's upsell express.

I turned my ebook into and audio book and also made a masterminds audio series with interviews with experts in my particular niche. I have 2 new products to upsell now but how do i price them?

I wanted to upsell the audio book, then the masterminds audio series, If you seasoned marketers can help me with a pricing strategy that will convert well, i will greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for all you help.

Fisrt thing you should do is the basics:

    1) Look for competing products that are similar to your upsell products and see how much they charge (it matters not that they are upsell products, you still need to know how much they are worth alone)

Look for products within your smae niche if possible (if there are none then products of a similar nature in a neighbouring niche may be your best guide)

    2) Whilst looking at competing producs, decide what sets your product apart (what makes it better, or even worse... do you have something they do not?) This will tell you whether to price it higher or lower then the competition.

Do your research, yep you may have to buy a few competitors products, but that is market research. Offline companies do it, and you should too.

2a) Research you customer. What type of people are they, and are they willing to spend a lot of money for the product or not? Without knowing your product, its possible that 27 is too cheap, and that you could even get 500 with an upsell (bring them in cheap and hit them hard). But again you will only know this though some basic market research on your customer. (how old are they, is it an emotical purchase, do they have lots of spare cash or are they tennagers etc)

    3) Feel free to sell your upsell products as seperate products. If they are of value why wouldn't you? (you do not need to promote them, but when customers can see they are a real product it will help you convert)

    4) Now understand that an upsell is a compelling offer once you have already made a purchase. 27 dollars falls into the no brainer category, in my mind anything over 47 ish makes people think a little before they purchase, so try not to make them think....

But it is perfectly ok, to make them think, if your offer is really of high value. So know how much your upsell products are worth... and you can only do that by market research.

    5) Nobody but you can find the right price. When I first started I made the mistake a few times, but now you have scripts that help you. You can have a rising upsell price script, so you can give the upsell cheaper to first customers (hey, they trusted you first so thank them). The price then rises and you will see what pice point converted the most. (then simply stop the script and set it)

A second way fo doing the above is the 'second chance offer' - set your highest estimated price on the first page, and when they click no, so that a screen which gives them a second chance to have it at a lower discount..

Unless people know you market and customer, people's advice here will be very guestamated, as prices vary between niches and customer type.

Test different prices and see what converts best.

That about sums it up for me too.

Market research like Venturetothetop talked about (good solid advice) will definitely get you a rough idea but the real answer lies in conversions and dollars.

You'll need to do some testing if you really want to find the sweet spot and sometimes that can take a long long time...and in fact you can keep testing forever.

I had one product where I thought I had it set then on a whim I decided to exactly double the upsell price in split testing 7 months down the track....blew away my previous best with 2% higher conversions at twice the price!

      Cheers,

      Jonathan
