How do I get rid of Mcaffee?

Hi

My daughters leaving for a years stay in Taiwan so she bought a laptop to enable her to keep in touch

The thing came preloaded with Windows 7 and 2008 Mcaffee (full suite) The sales guy persuaded her to buy Kaspersky 2010. (I can't disagree)

Problem:- Kaspersky won't load with Mcaffee onboard, I deleted Mcaffee using the windows remove program facility. Kaspersky still says Mcaffee is present and therefore won't install

The windows uninstall program must have left Mcaffee listed in the registry ?

How do I remove all traces of Mcaffee so I can install Kaspersky?

Thanks

Michael

I think the only way to get rid of those *&!@#&^%% programs completely is to sell your laptop.

    Good luck.

This is a stab in the dark. Have you tried CCleaner to clean any left over files and registry errors? You can use it to clean your registry for free.

If that doesn't help, go here and ask.

    Hey Michael,

It is actually not that hard. Go to McAfee's site and get the cleanup tool, it should get rid of all those nasty traces.

    It can be found here:

The so cleanup tool worked? I was going to post that but your operating system was Windows 7 and it was not listed for the available systems the tool was compatible with. Well, anyway, glad it worked and I learned something as well.

I've wondered the same thing. I got a laptop preloaded with mcafee and can't get rid of it. I hate mcafee and laptops shouldn't be preloaded with them. Or at least there should be a way to get rid of it. Now I feel like calling up Dell for preloading this crap and yelling at them.
