I'm new to internet forums

And here's my advice:

Don't get sucked into people telling you what you SHOULD do who know jack sh#t about you or your business.

It happens alot and it misleads alot of people who are new to this.

Welcome, you're going to learn alot here but I beg you, do NOT get distracted by opinion and only seek and apply advice that is useful to you, where you are right now.

If you have a business that you're bringing online, look for info on that or post a Q. If you're not sure what you want to do online, then take the time to understand the difference between doing what you love and doing what makes money.

If you can find a balance between the two, you're golden. If you are prepared to work hard in a market that you are not interested in, then all the more better!

Finally, try not to worry about learning the technicalities or advanced techniques before you've decided on a particular market or industry that you're going to work in.

The teccy stuff can be bypassed these days, you don't need to be a web designer to make a million dollars online with your own website.

Set goals, learn the fundamentals of marketing online and then take each step day by day. But DO NOT get sucked into buying numerous products that promise the world. The truth is that you'll learn everything you need to by asking questions in the early stages, then when you're starting to ramp things up and need to step into serious mode, that is the time to think about investing in more education.

Or, just look for an authoritative beginner's guide to online marketing...just don't always expect to get the intricacies included in such a guide...there's too much to learn for one book!
