Hi guys.

Quick question.

Everyone knows the value of .COM sites for companys etc, but what about things like blogs and squeeze pages?

Does it make much sense to get a .org, .info, or whatever, in order to save money on domain name price, or to get a word that has already been used by .COM?

Thanks!

I have always preferred .com's to other TLDs but since I have a few others and they seem to be compatible with my needs.

.info, .us and .org have always worked well for me. They are particularly helpful if the .com domain is already taken.

    Best of luck--

If you're using it where the majority of your traffic is going to come from clicks, such as people clicking on ads, links in articles, blog comments, etc., then it probably doesn't matter what TLD you use.

If you're using it where you'll have any significant amount of type-in traffic, use a .com. That's what sticks in people's memories most, and will tend to be their default choice if they forget the TLD. For example, they might remember keyword1 but not that it was keyword1.net. So, they'll type in keyword1.com. Alternatively, they may remember keyword1.net, but then type it in as keyword1net.com.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Having your product on a .com will give it a little bit more credibility with the general public too.
