Video Transcription Credits

The new video transcription feature looks great and I would love to use it. I went into the media manager and selected the video and then clicked "transcribe." The next screen popped up and said it was 98 credits, but this is approximately a 2-minute video. The video about this new feature says that 100 credits buys you up to a 1 hour of footage. Does this mean transcribing my 2-minute videos costs the same as transcribing a 1 hour video?

Thanks.

    • Sorry, Traffic Geyser. I have since that post realized that it is up to 1 hour of video can cost up to 100 credits. So it seems that file size matters but I have now created an avi that is much smaller and still the same credit value. I am very confused.

        Hi Silvermine Solutions,

As an owner of a virtual assistant company, we do a lot of video transcription and this is how we calculate the transcription fee which is based on industry standards:

verbatim transcription is $1.90 per audio minute
Cleaned-up transcription is $1.90 per audio minute
fully edited transcription is $2.20 per audio minute

Now Traffic Geyser puts the cost into credit hours and so you don't know exactly how long they are taking to do the transcription. But their turn around from I have found out is 2-3 days.

So with that said...a great transcriptionist will transcribe your one hour video in 4 hours. This does not include reviewing the transcription. You also have to keep in mind that the sound quality of the video, dialects, and background noise all play a factor in the length of time it will take. That is why my company charges per audio minute which saves the client money.

        Hope this helps some,
        Sue Rogers
