HELP: How To Set Up VA with Magic Article Writer, Magic Article Submitte and Xsitepro2?

Hi,

I am going to hire a virtual assistant (VA). A couple tasks I will have the VA do is to rewrite articles using Magic Article Writer and then submit them to article directories using Magic Article Submitter...AND I also need them to rebuild several old neglected sites using XsitePro2.

1) Questions about setting up a VA with MAR and MAS please...
Do you know how I can set up my VA using MAR and MAS so I can verify what they are doing on their end? I'm looking for specifics like what files do I need to send them after they have installed MAR & MAS on their computer so their copies of MAR and MAS are in synch with their copies as they do the work for me? And then what files should they be continually sending me so I can update my copies of MAR and MAS on my end so I can see what they have done.

2) Questions about setting up a VA using Xsitepro2...
Same questions apply as above. Once they have downloaded XSP2 on their computer. What XSP2 files do I need to send them so they can continue rebuilding the site I just started rebuilding? And of course when they are done, what do they need to send me since I will do the uploading of the rebuilt site on my end.

I'm going to make instructional videos for them using (Jing, Screenflow or Camtasia) once I figure this out and then upload them to Screencast.com using their free 2gb storage + 2gb bandwidth plan so my VA can see them.

Any ideas or suggestions for doing this stuff with MAR, MAS and XSP2 efficiently will be greatly appreciated please.

Thanks
Steve

  • Obviously you have to buy licences for each of these products and ensure that your VA can install them. Synchronising these products will be difficult. You'd be better to get your VA to approximate this.

A few of the outsourcing sites (such as oDesk) can take screengrabs of your VAs desktop at regular intervals. They also offer other tracking mechanisms, such as watching for mouse and keyboard activiites. If you use these, as well as request a daily log from your VA about what they've done, you should be able to check that everything is progressing successfully.

The programs I'll be having my va use initially (xsitepro, magic article writer and magic article submitter) all allow the program to be installed on a second computer. I gave my VA very simple step-by-step instructions and video on how to install the programs. What do you mean by "You'd be better to get your VA to approximate this"?

Instead of shuffling data files back and forth, I decided that the simplest way to "synchronize" Magic Article Submitter (so I can see what they have submitted) is to create a new profile in my copy and then tell them to do the same with their copy (using the same username and password) and then only they would be the one to use that profile to submit articles. Then I can hit the "articles published" button on my end for their profile and see whats going on.

For Xsitepro, I'm having them recreate an old site that was originally built with a different program. Anyone thats used Xsitepro knows that you can't just upload html files like you can with a "normal" html editor (its really the one bummer about xsp!). Anyway, I figured out how they can export that one site from XSP and upload that .xse file to a free DropBox.com account and then I can import it on my end to see their daily progress.

Any ideas for setting up other systems with a VA will be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks
      Steve

This is the response I received when I asked about licensing a while ago:

"When you purchase XSP you are allowed two personal use licenses. This means that you are allowed to use XSP on any two machines that you use. If you want to purchase an additional license for your VA, we offer a discounted license at $97. You can purchase this license here.

    Website Designer Software - XSitePro - extra_license
    "

Well worth it in my opinion.

Another option would just be to hire from an outsourcing agency who already has an article rewriter and submitter. It would save you from buying software and you don't need to teach them how to use it since the agency already taught them how to use the software
