Is creating a subdomain the right way?

Would creating a subdomain be just as good rather than creating a new site with a new domain if it's a sub niche within my main niche? Can someone give me the pros and cons of this? Thanks.

    Hey there - If you want the sub niche traffic to have any positive effect on the main domain I would not do this as the search engines will only list a few of your sub domains and this dose nothing for the main domain.

    I would use a sub folder (i.e yourdomain.com/nitche) which WILL have a postive effect on the main domain.
