Scam Looking Landing Pages?

My question is do they really work? They all look the same to me, long scroll down, big bold text, italic test, the build up, the call for action now, and just plain hammy, sleazy, and reeks with the look of a scam. When I land on one I always lol and back click myself out of there. There must be better ways to sell products that does not have that scam website look to it.

    A lot of people bring this up, including myself in the past a number of times. Fact is it works for the "target" market, if you lol at it--you shouldn't be buying it anyway (I guess).

    P.S. If you come up with an idea that works better I'm sure a lot of people will quickly adopt it, let me know if you do!

    I think their time is about done, seems video is the way to go now.

        I am not saying there is anything wrong with a single landing page, it is just the way the majority of them are designed. They look so sleazy with all the phony testimonials, "Call Now", big bold text, the long scrolling page in an attempt to build the reader up like a volcano ready to erupt.

        You could be selling an e-book or a bag of dog crap but they all look identical. This is just my opinion, something I always have found humorous, would never buy a product from and wondered if it really works. It must work or many would not do it.

        I feel if it really works so well it may explain why our educational system in this country is so messed up and maybe why we find ourselves in the financial crisis we are in today.

        I am just looking at it through the lens of a potential customer. You guys are the pros, I am just a noob, I will keep my fingers quiet.

    I guess there are plenty of suckers out there and people new to the internet who have not seen one and will take the bait.

    Perhaps most aren't scams, but they do seem to lean toward a particular style of ebook/report that is all too frequently a PLR rehash of useless information.

    When you offer someone the 12 Steps to Astronomical Wealth & Happiness, please, don't send them some crap PLR report without expecting them to feel somewhat conned for their email address.

    It has to do with the level of trust you personally have with those sites. Since you don't trust any of them (I don't think you do), they all look the same to you.

    Believe it or not, there are people who have incredible relationships built with their customers/subscribers, they can sell anything by command. Literally by sending an email to them and say, "This is for you, you should get it".

    People then just look for "Add to Cart" button without even having to read the landing pages you're describing about.

    Put it this way, I am going to use my personal example.

    When I listen to rap music, they all sound the same to ME. But NOT when their fans listen to their favorite musicians. And these fans order their next latest album without even listening to any sample work.

    But to ME, they all look and feel the same. I never get why these fans pay money to listen to this type of music, but it's there certainly for them.

    I must agree that it really works in some way because when the first time I saw this kind of landing page I get attracted with their "get quick rich" system. However, after I really get involved with IM, I have the same feeling like you all, it looks "no good" but still working.. =)

      Your site is exactly what I am talking about. When I see one of those I am gone, poof. I will not even scroll down anymore, and they could have the cure for cancer. That is just me, one person out of billions and I am sure you are doing well with it or otherwise you would not be doing it.

    I generally make the assumption that if something is popular and a lot of people are using it...like long sales letters or cheesy looking landing pages or pseudo-review sites...they're probably making money. If they weren't successful they would die out quickly and people would use something else.

    Thanks Frank, yes it does work for me, but I do hear you. I have done some really dodgy looking ones with spelling errors and stuff, and got really good opt-in ratio. However, this site is about building credibility, and getting newbies on the list.
