Default AVI player with speed control???

Does anyone know of a program that will play AVIs but has a control where they can be sped up a bit?

I'd like to be able to adjust the speed so they take less time to play, but not to the point that makes the audio sound like the soundtrack from the chipmunks.

Is there such a program? Most videos just take too much time.

You can select the speed with VLC player. Speeding it up by 1.3x - 1.5x is generally pretty good. Bit of a chipmunk effect, but not too fast or high pitched.

VLC
Its free. Simply click on the right or left arrows on either end of the 'played so far' line to change the speed.

You can change audio speeds in your Windows Media Player: Go to the View tab: select enhancements from the drop-down box then select: play speed settings. You can select any speed you want. I often speed up by 1.6 times with practice you can even comprehend at 2 times speed with ease.

Thanks...I have the settings for this, but it's grayed out and won't let me adjust this. Maybe I can only set this when I'm not running a video at the time? But for now, I can change it.

It's odd that it's grayed out. I've got Windows XP and it's showing up fine, you should be able to set it anytime. You might have to change something in the options.
