All right guys, I'm debating.

Just bought a brand-new domain name for a blog I'm resurrecting:

www.moneysoapbox.com

It used to have a blogspot.com name, but I got the domain from Godaddy and am currently using Blogger's hosting.

I'm still revamping it, so while it's early on (kind of) I'm debating...

1.) Keep it the way it is, own domain + Blogger hosting
2.) Keep the Blogger interface and use different hosting
3.) Transfer the blog to Wordpress, use different hosting

Is it possible to host a Blogger blog on say, HostGator, and if so, how would I do it?

Or, with all the buzz of Wordpress, should I transfer everything over to a WP blog instead?

With the exception of adding an opt-in box later, I like the looks for now, but I wouldn't mind having more options. (Reason I ask is because even though I don't feel like dealing with it ATM, I'll bite the bullet and do it anyway if it saves me grief down the road.)

Thanks for your input.

I'm pretty sure blogger cannot be installed anywhere other than a blogger site. Depending on how big the site is, it could take a while to transfer it to wordpress, but there are a ton of apps/functionality available for wordpress compared to blogger. That's what I'd do (transfer to wordpress)

Ooh, didn't even think about that... thanks for the heads up!

The main problem is your blog posts will all have an established linking structure, and this is already indexed.

If you change to wordpress you will loose those indexed posts. Yes they will now be re-indexed, but under the current indexing you were the first to post this content and get indexed with it.

If anyone has copied your content, then your re-indexed posts will appear to have been written after the copies.

    WPWPWPWPWPWP!

    And WP.

It is so customisable! Everything from my minisite design page:

    www.theminisitekid.com

to FLogs, landing pages, minisites, even regular blogs are all hosted on WP - its the ease of use and customisability which is why people go for it. Oh, and it's free!
