Hey, I have come across several buyer keywords that have low search volume and very low competition in exact match. For example, "ladies black leather belts" has monthly searches but only 8 pages in exact match, but 436,000 in broad match. How would you monetize this keyword, and would it be worth it? would you be able to rank above the 436,000 for ladies black leather belts broad search with minimal backlinking? My idea was to set up a wordpress blog with amazon affiliate products, so once it is set up there will be minimal maintenance. Think it would be worth while? Lucas |

Bundle them up as "Secret low competition keywords" and sell them to the miners. You know - shovels - to miners. Whether it's ethical or not to sell such lists is an issue you'll have to wrestle with. It does however get you off the hook of trying to turn the actual phrases into monetizable traffic. This form of "passing the buck" is in fact quite common in the internet marketing world... as ebooks are written and sold about techniques which no longer work or never did. |

What does the first page of Google look like? How many searches are there? What is the cost per click for the keyword phrase?

Might be worth while to do your keyword search with the words "buy" or "price" or "store" included. Otherwise, it might just be traffic of people curious about a fashion trend they laugh at. Any evidence that the searchers actually want to buy what they find in the long tail? Chris |

On the first page of google there is a bizrate site, an ebay listing and what look to be like outlet sites. the CPC is 5 cents. Half of the first page have no backlinks, several have 2 or 3 and the 7th listing has 97. None of the page ranks are above 3.

Well, since your strategy costs nothing to give it a shot... why not give it a shot? Toss up the blog and a few keyword-catchers, and see what traffic you get in a week.

Perhaps just get some traffic to it. If possible, try and monetize it. If not, scrap it, and perhaps try to sell it on flippa for a very low price. It's not like it'll hurt, and you can just reinvest any money you make into something more profitable.

You could also create a Hub page for each of these keywords - highlight and review a couple products or marketplaces - with an affiliate link to them. While income on any one page may be minimal - each page you create helps lift the hub score of the other pages - bringing better ranking, more traffic for all your hubs.
