Need Some Quick HTML Techie Help!

Hi Warriors!

I've spent a LOT of time getting my e-zine template just right and am now happy with it. As I mentioned in an earlier post tonight, I've been away from my IM activities for a while but am now coming back to it and just noticed a small problem with my e-mail template:

The last section of my e-zine is "About Michelle Nightengale" and I noticed that the thin black border to the right of that is missing completely! Grrrr!

I think it disappeared when I added my photo to the "About Michelle Nightengale" section. But I have NO idea how to add it back. It's 12:30 AM here right now and I've been trying to fix it but only managed to make the problem worse. I just don't have the patience to mess with it any more tonight.

Would someone here be willing to take a look at it and see what I've done wrong? I'd GREATLY appareciate it! (I just feel like crying right now because I can't see what the problem is or how to fix it.)

I use AWeber, so if you use AWeber, just copy/paste the code below into a new broadcast message to test it.

I think you're going to kick yourself.

I looked at your code in my browser.

Looks fine. So I looked at it in an AWeber broadcast window.

Sure enough, the border on the right is missing!

So I scrolled right.

Now the border on the left is missing...

No, that's not what I'm talking about. :P I've used AWeber for at least a couple of years and know better than that.

E-mail it to yourself at any e-mail where you can see it in HTML. The border to the right of the"About Me" section is missing! And it's only missing in that one small section (it's a cell). The border is intact on the three other sides and along the rest of the right side.

I'm using my Yahoo e-mail address to test it and I only noticed it when I e-mailed myself at my Yahoo address. (I ALWAYS send a test e-mail to myself of every issue just to make sure it looks right.) I'm not looking at it in AWeber's windows.

I've messed around with it quite a bit tonight and EVERY TIME I e-mail it to myself, the border on the right (where my "About Me" info is located) is missing and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I'll do just that... sounds odd. The HTML displays fine raw in a browser, and fine in AWeber's preview, but not in your mail box? Strange. I'll investigate some more.

Is the picture covering up the border? Try maximizing your email or making your photo smaller and see if that helps.

Still a mystery; here it is in GMail:

I'm not sure why your picture didn't show up; it shows up in AWeber. But all the borders look like they're right where they belong. Which one is missing on your display?

Just a small section of the thin black border to the right of the "About Michelle Nightengale" section. I can see it's there in GMail. So why not in Yahoo???? (And yes, my photo shows up in Yahoo.)

Grrrr!

Maybe I ought to just forget it. Why on earth can't it appear the way it's supposed to appear regardless of the e-mail client???!!! (Yes, I know it just won't and trying to make it look right in every client is next to impossible.)

Does GMail block images by default? I know Yahoo sometimes does and you have to click on a link to download images. Do you have to do that in GMail too?

Duh, yes. Fixed. That's what I get for suggesting you just didn't scroll to the right.

But none of the border disappeared when I enabled images, either. Hm. Quite a mystery.

I'd ignore it. Most of your readers probably won't notice, and the ones who do probably won't care.

Edit: WAIT! I have an idea. Let me mess around a little.

THANK YOU!!!

I know basic HTML and I know enough to go line by line through the code to figure it out. After all, each section is just a repeat of the one before it, so it's just a matter of finding where it's NOT repeated. :P

But for whatever reason, I was changing too much code (I'd added that line back in, but either added too much after it or taken out too much) and screwed up everything. And I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

Every test e-mail I sent to myself was funky and whacked out.

But I just sent a test e-mail to myself and it looks beautiful. Just like it's SUPPOSED to look.

A HUGE thank you for your help! I greatly appreciate it.

Just a small section of the thin black border to the right of the "About Michelle Nightengale" section. I can see it's there in GMail. So why not in Yahoo???? (And yes, my photo shows up in Yahoo.) Grrrr! Maybe I ought to just forget it. Why on earth can't it appear the way it's supposed to appear regardless of the e-mail client???!!! (Yes, I know it just won't and trying to make it look right in every client is next to impossible.) Does GMail block images by default? I know Yahoo sometimes does and you have to click on a link to download images. Do you have to do that in GMail too? Michelle

No, that's not what I'm talking about. :P I've used AWeber for at least a couple of years and know better than that. E-mail it to yourself at any e-mail where you can see it in HTML. The border to the right of the"About Me" section is missing! And it's only missing in that one small section (it's a cell). The border is intact on the three other sides and along the rest of the right side. I'm using my Yahoo e-mail address to test it and I only noticed it when I e-mailed myself at my Yahoo address. (I ALWAYS send a test e-mail to myself of every issue just to make sure it looks right.) I'm not looking at it in AWeber's windows. I've messed around with it quite a bit tonight and EVERY TIME I e-mail it to myself, the border on the right (where my "About Me" info is located) is missing and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I know basic HTML and I know enough to go line by line through the code to figure it out. After all, each section is just a repeat of the one before it, so it's just a matter of finding where it's NOT repeated. :P But for whatever reason, I was changing too much code (I'd added that line back in, but either added too much after it or taken out too much) and screwed up everything. And I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Every test e-mail I sent to myself was funky and whacked out. But I just sent a test e-mail to myself and it looks beautiful. Just like it's SUPPOSED to look. A HUGE thank you for your help! I greatly appreciate it. Sincerely, Michelle
