Hey guys

just wanted to share with you a cool case study.

We all know that the more people who open your emails
the more people will click your link, and buy what you
are promoting.

Over the years i have learned that in order to maintain
a good relationship with my list and get them to open my
emails, you need to make your SUBJECT line different
then all the other HYPE emails from many other marketers...

Here's My Case Study...

I sent an email to my list, not even promoting
what i was selling.

The Subject Line Was: here are the pic's

that got me a 43% OPEN RATE

i basically told them to go check out the pics from
my last month of travels.

it was a video slide show, showing pictures of me over the last
month in Mexico on the Marketers Cruise, at Mike Filsaimes affiliate
party, and in Orlando for another internet marketing seminar...

there was NO SELLING in the video...

at the end i told them about a new cool course that
my friend had come out with...

the Result ?

Over $3,485 in sales from just one email

Now ofcourse thats not a lot of money and i have generated WAY more
then that with one blast

But what supprised me was the OPEN RATE by using that SUBJECT LINE.

The Lesson Learned

Use Subject lines that look like they are coming from a FRIEND.

not a sales person

you will get HIGHER open rates and make more money i guarantee you.

Feel free to swipe that subject line and use it for yourself!

talk soon

Great advise. I think I agree with you on that. There are certain emails I open and there are those I just click delete for.

    Relationship matters.

Did you send it as you typed above "here are the pic's" or "here are the pics" (which is the correct punctuation since it is not possessive)? The only reason I ask is because I'm currently testing ideas to see whether incorrect spellings and punctuation have an effect on open rate. I have a feeling it might (increase open rates) because I know that people like to see other people mess up and share bad news which is why most people see a high open rate with "bad news..." subject lines.

    Just curious!

      Hi

it was 'here are the pics'

im not sure if incorrect spelling would change , but interesting to find out

let me know if you test it!

I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed. And the number of times I succeed Is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep trying.

I'll have to check the stats and get back to yall...we actually had a typo in one email we sent out (left out a letter...wrote "corse" instead of "course") and someone wrote back ticked off that we didn't proofread before we sent. But that one just ONE person. Not sure how well the email did otherwise but I definitely see a lot of people sending out emails with some words spelled wrong so I thought maybe it was a secret marketing trick!

I more likely to open email that only 20%-30% talk about internet marketing, and sometime more enjoy read an email that story about the real life better than rambling about making money and promote a product.

Bad spelling and punctuation used to really annoy me and I thought it was unprofessional (and couldn't they afford to employ a proof-reader?).

I still don't like seeing apostrophes in the wrong place, etc, but I try now to look beyond that. Many of these people who "write badly" are, in fact, laughing all the way to the bank...and I'm not (yet).

I think I need to learn from them and not the other way around!
