What does color of font mean and which to use on self-help ebook?

Can someone tell me (from experience) which font color they used (besides black) in a ebook they wrote to make it look more exciting, get readers to read the whole ebook (mine is about 80 pages), and among other reasons for it?

In addtion, can anyone tell me which font color (besides black) I should use for a self-improvement ebook to make it more varied and readable, and will make people want to finish my ebook all the way to the end (my main reason for asking this question)?

Someone isn't going to read your ebook all the way through because of the font color, they'll read it all the through because the content is compelling. They may stop reading it because of the font color though.

The reason black text on a white background is used almost all the time is because it offers the most contrast, and so, it's the easiest to read. It's also the most professional color choice.

If you want to make a humor book "more exciting" you may get away with font color change there, but if you want to be taken as a serious professional in the self-improvement field I would suggest you not deviate from accepted standards. You have nothing to gain from it, IMHO, but you could lose credibility.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

I swear I have read the War and Peace by the Russian author Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (for you guys, Leo Tolstoy), which according to Amazon it has 1424 pages in the hardcover edition... and there was only black and white in it.

For the OP: in your case applies what I used to teach to my website-making students - just because it is possible it doesn't mean you should do it.

You could try dark blue. On a white background that is a bit easier on the eyes than black.

I know that some people with dyslexia find less of a contrast is easier to read. Maybe someone else here who has experience of that can help.

In my own personal reading experience any color besides black and white while reading (except for headlines and subs) can get extremely tiresome on the eyes.

I would definately be care, maybe some darker greys..

If font color does not effect much to readers then how come famous sites like senuke.com, marketsamurai.com, contentbuzz.com use that on the sale page? There must be the reason for it and in the same way I want to have the same effect on my readers for some of the sentences I will use a different font color rather then just black. So, isn't that a better choice since I am just copying expert sites like marketsmurai.com, etc.?

You are comparing apples to oranges.

That is a capture page and not an ebook..the book is most likely writen in black and white. The colors on the website are designed to grab the visitors attention and keep them there.

Red: Means Stop/Pay attention and read me....
Blue: Soothing color, helps the reader relax and read the main ad copy...Short term...not like a book.

There is truly a whole physchology behind colors and human emotions, which websites use to get you emotionally involved in what you are reading, so that they build trust and help you take the desired action.

            Purchase or opt-in.

            Hope that helps.

i really doubt the color is what will alter the readers experience.

If it is really annoying you, give your book to 5-10 people and try and get some real feedback.

That is a great idea...do some visual testing.

p.s Make sure you spread the 5-10 out in age demographics too. See if the different colors affect older individuals.
