Tracking email subscribers

I was wondering if some fellow Warrior could help me...
Just say i have a main website and it has a optin box in it...
and people in my group also tell other people about the website and opt in as well...
How do i keep track of the people that they referred to the website?
Basically if a member in my group sends someone to my site and they subscribe into my optin box how can i tell who sent them there..
