Getting A Business License/Trade Name

Hey thanks everyone that reads these posts! I have a basic question here. What are the grounds for refusing someone a business license or trade name? Can a county simply refuse a business license for any reason they want or no reason at all? If the name is not lewd and the business is legitimate doesn't the county have the obligation to give you a business license? I am just concerned that I will get some flack for my business name and don't want to go through the shuffle and apply and pay the fees if they are ultimately going to refuse it to me anyway. Thanks very much!

For help with answers to those questions, I would advise you to contact your local Small Business Development Office. Here is a link for you: GA SBDC and then find your local office.

Agree with Blalock and contact the local official first before paying any fees ...

many times city/county want a physical commercial locale before granting ... but just tell them you work out of your home as a consultant and youhave no customers coming to your home.
