Newbies - Internet Marketing Will Be Sooooo Easy When You Change Your Watch.

I remembered just this weekend the number one question I had starting out in Internet marketing. I had almost forgetten how frustrating that question was. I spent alot of time searching for the answer and banging my head against the wall. I figured out it was really the only thing that mattered in IM.

It was traffic. How do I get traffic?

I read books, looked at offers and found some decent techniques but I never really found what I was looking for because i never was transparent enough with myself to see the real question I was asking. If I had been I wouldn't have wasted so much time

Amazingly now traffic is drop dead easy to me. Really so easy now I laugh at myself but you see back then I wasn 't really asking how do I get traffic I was asking

How do I get traffic - immediately. (and that silent word in my question was mine and a lot of people's silent killer in IM)

No I never thought the word immediately out loud (mentally or verbally) but thats what I was looking for. The overnight success story. I wanted to make money YESTERDAY and hearing about anything that took time was a fail as far as I was concerned.

My marketing watch said I had to do this thing in 30 days, 10 minutes or max 90 days (okay I found that one was easy too but only when I didn't care about it). It was kind of silly. No doctor had told me I had an incurable disease and would drop dead in a few years. I already knew the time between Christmas when I get gifts to the time in April when my Uncle sam takes it back was like a blink but still I wanted it to be shorter. It was almost like a person who wanted to build a home but had the requirement that they would only be interested in techniques that could get it built in two weeks!

Really silly requirement that takes all kinds of realistic workable options off the table.

What happened? I gave up. NO not on IM like so many do. It was a good giving up. I settled for a watch that ran slower and all of a sudden I had options baby. I could build a site, I could write content, I could spend a bit of time linking to my site and breath in between. I wasn't burning up frustration mental energy because I didn't expect anything in ten minutes. All the standard no secret ways of building a business were mine because I wasn't looking for a quick hit and run technique. I could learn from all businesses not just the alleged IM guru that claimed it should and could be done in 30 days.

Secrets in IM? Thats like secrets in general business. there are none left. Its been going on too long. It all comes down to this and nothing else.


Everyone of those steps takes time and more importantly everyone of those have ton loads of techniques that shrivels up and dies when you are in a rush.


What about my question? Traffic simple? Yeah Here it is - NO WSO needed.

A) Take a few hours to do keyword research so you know what people are looking for. Keyword tools are your marketing research division.
B) Participate on enough sites that will link back to you ( or allow you to link back)
C) write great content that is relevant to what your keyword told you to aim for.
D) Wherever you can give people what they are looking for (keyword research tells you that too - notice a trend?)
E) keep at it.

And the traffic will come, trickles at first and in droves later. I don't care if that traffic is from Google from Twitter , Facebook or Youtube. Just as in real life people aren't going to believe in you or your product because you knocked at their door with a great line. It takes time to build trust and a customer base. Fast watch techniques don't work for that and never will.

If you are thinking - thats too simple. I know that already and I'm looking for something more mysterious and killer - thats your fast watch brain talking. Like me you'll keep looking for a secret short cut one product buy after another without ever getting down to real business.

Stop looking to build an audience using a fast watch. Kick your fast internal stop watch out of your head and you'll be fine. Every slow technique that took work and time has paid off for me. can't say that for every get it quick scheme and they took sometimes even more time moving form one then to the next.
