Automatic Video Player

Hi all,

I'm fairly new here and have a question about video players.

Can anyone suggest a video player that plays automatically once a page is loaded?

I do not want to embed YouTube videos as these will require the viewer to 'press play'. They will also have a YouTube watermark which I wish to avoid.

Thanks for any suggestions. If this has been covered elsewhere I am truly sorry.

you can upload the video to Viddler.com - The best way to watch and publish your videos and embed the player on your website, setting the option of AUTOPLAY.

Also, you can get Traffic Geyser which allow you to set the player on your website with Autoplay function.

    Cheers!

David, are you looking for a video player - software that lets you store a video on your site and it will play when people go to your site? Or are you looking for a storage site like Youtube to which you would upload your videos and have the videos play on your site?

You need both. A player (software) like Flowplayer iYingHang mentioned takes your video and converts it into a format that will play on a website - it adds the "skin" - the start/stop/forward/rewind buttons.

Then you need a place to store it - either on your own site (it will use up a lot of your bandwidth) or a storage site like Viddler - or Amazon S3, or Screencast.

I have been using Youtube. And, like you, I've been looking for a different solution over the past few days. Amazon S3 was not as straight forward and "idiot proof" as Screencast. Screencast has a "free" option to try it out. The free version lets you store 2 GB data and gives a 2 GB bandwidth per month. The "pay" version gives 25 GB storage and half a terabybt of bandwidth per month - at $10/month.

Amazon S3 is cheaper, check it out too. Viddler and Screencast are similar. I don't remember the pricing structure for Viddler. I think Viddler gives you the video player too along with a subscription. Someone can correct me if I have this wrong.

I am using Camtasia 6 to make the videos and add a player. Screencast is offered by Techsmith - the folks who make Camtasia.

Fellow warrior Josh Anderson sells software that can convert your videos, and warrior Quentin sells a package that he advertises as an audio player - but has a bonus video player too.

    :-Don

Edit: also Camtasia lets you choose whether or not to have the video begin playing automatically when someone enters your site, and lets you decide whether or not you want to video to continue playin again at the end.

      Don,

I'm really shocked you are not using Easy Video Player.

If a silly blonde like me can figure it out, it should be a no brainer for you.

It loads to my S3 account, and I have control to embed anywhere on my host.

I can autoplay, add buttons, etc.

You pay up front for the app, but it is much cheaper long term than paying 10 bucks a month or more.

Thanks for all the great information! You have all raised some good points I had not considered. I am starting to see the differences between the software and the storage options.

I will take a look at all that you have suggested.

    Many thanks,
    David
