I Need Some Help With Camtasia Please!

Hey guys,

I'm currently creating some videos for the first time so I decided to download the free trial of Camtasia and it's great!

However, there is something I can't figure out.

When I go to "produce" it produces the file and also some other files. If the name of my video was "video" these are the files it produces;

video.mp4
video_controller.swf
video.html
swfobject.js
expressInstall.swf
FirstFrame.png

Now, what I would like to do is be able to send the html file to customers so that they can simply open it in their browser of choice and watch the video.

I tried to email the html file alone to a different computer and then tried to open it but the video wasn't there.

So, what I would like to know is, what else do I need to include in the download I send to customers? Should I zip up all of the above files and send them or do I only need to send some of them?

Or maybe I am way off base and I need to do something else entirely?

I'll be very grateful for any help you can offer.

    Long answer:
    • video.html is the web page they will open
    • FirstFrame.png is the image shown until they hit play
    • video.mp4 is the video
    • video_controller.swf is the player
    • swfobject.js is for cross-browser compatibility
    • expressInstall.swf is in case they don't have Flash installed
Short answer: zip them all up. You need all of them.

NOW... what if you want to put several video pages in one folder? (This is a common one.)

The contents of "video_controller.swf" and "swfobject.js" and "expressInstall.swf" are always the same. You only need one copy of each in the folder.

But if you look in the "video.html" file, you'll find "FirstFrame.png" and "video.mp4" referenced. Rename the "FirstFrame.png" file to something else, like "FirstFrame1.png" or something, and change the contents of "video.html" to use the right name. You may also want to rename "video.html" and "video.mp4" if you have other files with the same names, making sure to change the reference to "video.mp4" in the "video.html" file.

      Thanks, Caliban.

Rather than trying to edit and rename things, I think I'll just stick to having one folder per video.

So, "01 - Video Title" and "02 - Video Title" and so on. That will make things easier.

So I simply put them into their own folders and then zip that all up and I'm good to go?

Someone was saying that I needed to upload the videos somewhere, but I'm guessing that isn't true?

Man, I really struggle with this kind of stuff!

It's not. I run these locally all the time.

Now, if only someone could explain to me how to put the MP4 part on Amazon S3...

If you try it through Amazon, you'll be there for hours.

I do mine through ezs3.com and can't tell you how simple it makes things.

I have Easy Video Player, and have been able to just upload the mp4 file directly.

No need for the other stuff.
