Wanting to become a JV broker, where to start?

Hey guys,
was wondering how I might crack it into the business of brokering JV deals. I'm familiar with Bob Serling's work as far as toll-gate Joint Ventures and the like, but was wondering if there was a clever way of going about proposing my services, if I should advertise anywhere etc.

Has anybody here had success in that realm and would be willing to lend a rookie a view crumbs of wisdom?

Appreciate any help.

Cheers,
JB

A good starting point would be to go to as many of the big IM seminars as you can and befriending as many people as you can, especially the movers and shakers.

Garrie does have an excellent point though LOL...

I'll second the vote for Willie Crawford. He gives an outstanding presentation on JV'ing. If you're not following him I'd recommend getting to know his work - and then get to know him. He speaks frequently and is a great guy and gentleman, definitely easy to talk to.
    best,

I have to ask you, why a JV broker though?
What is your inspiration behind going after how to become a JV broker?

I believe a JV broker needs to be a person who knows people, who has connections, who can set up a deal and bring right people to do business together, and enjoys a sweet percentage of all the deals the make, which is how they make money.

So in order to be a successful JV broker you need to have connections, lots of them.

Then you need to be trustworthy, I mean why would anybody use a new broker when they have a long time relationship with their old broker, and they trust them.

I would say start off your career in a niche that you know and have some connections in, find some people who need some business and hook them up with right people that can help their business.

Soon if you are hardworking and you produce consistent deals for your clients, your name will grow and so will your connections..

Its all about taking baby steps...

    Hope this helps
    Rahul

P.S: Spy on the people who are doing great as JV brokers and you will learn a lot about how this works (HINT: Willie Crawford, Mike Merz, Sean A McAlister)

Buy a few cheap 99 cent ebooks on the subject and after that if you feel you still want to go for it then by all means continue your research and make a sound decision.

Somehow, I doubt there are going to be any cheap ebooks on JV brokerage...haha. The people who wrote them would have to be pretty crappy JV brokers
