Camtasia Free Edition

Hi

Anyone have any tutorials on using the free edition of Camtasia.

I have it just about sorted and have produced a 15 minute tutorial video which is great.

However, whenever I try to upload to YouTube, i get a message saying the file is too big.

Just wondering what settings etc are best used or if there are any tutorial vids for the free edition that would be useful?

      Now you've got me!!

      To be honest, I was just playing about with it and produced this really decent tutorial!!

      I never really altered frame rates etc but I saved it as a .avi

      Off to the "day job" shortly but any advice would be appreciated. I'll check back in tomorrow morning.

        Youtube only takes 10 minute videos.

        You are going to have to break that into 2 chunks.

          From a marketing perspective this can be quite an intelligent strategy. More videos, more spread, more entry points

    You can output different formats from Camtasia. You want to output a FLV or Flash video format to upload to YouTube.

    Before you begin recording, you should select the YouTube settings so you get the best format for YouTube.

    I personally thing Camtasia is a pain in the butt and prefer UTipU.com It's free and super easy to use. You will get a watermark at the end of the video, so if you can't live with that, go with Camtasia. Also, Camtasia is far superior for editing video's, laying down music tracks, etc. UTipU is more down and dirty screen capture, but it fits most of my needs.

    If you click on my signature, you will see an example of the UTipU video. It's not the best video I've ever made, but at least you can see what I'm talking about.

    When you say the free version, do you mean camtasia or camstudio? If its camtasia, they have a free video tutorial provided for you.. Very comprehensive and detailed. i've placed the link to it below

    AVI is going to yield way to large a file size - try MP4 or WMV for upload to YouTube. On the "produce movie" settings, lower the frame rate down as low as possible without the picture looking jerky or strobed. 15fps is the maximum setting I would use for Camtasia and YouTube. This is a good setting to use anyway as YouTube is based on NTSC, so 15fps is near as dammit half NTSC and should play well.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

    In the free version, I only seem to have the option of recording video to SWF or AVI.....any thoughts??
