A friend of mine were just talking about where we think internet marketing will be 5 years now. We can all agree that there are fundamental principles that will always be around...things like upselling and building a list.


If you were looking in a crystal ball at internet marketing 5 years from now, what would you see?

    In 5 years (probably less), Internet Marketing will have fully penetrated the next booming consumer arena ~ mobile platforms and mobile apps.

    Everything will be optimized for folks on the go: websites, opt-in forms, salespages, videos, digital downloads, even forums & membership sites will all work as well or better on smart phones, netbooks, and e-readers as they now do on the traditional LCD.

    The big money's in the very small screen. Wait & see...

    Mobile, social, and personalized marketing are going to overtake every other form of marketing. If you're not mobile ready you're going to lose out. I've been preaching this to my clients for 11 years now, and they're finally catching up.

    I have a few predictions:
    • Highly geo-targeted search engine results
    • Much wider use of video marketing
    • Less ability to get rankings from SEO "tricks" and more of a reliance on pure quality content
    • Much higher online presence from offline businesses
