Money Is In The List?

Hello Warriors,

I been a member of the forum for a short time and since I've been here one of the main consensus has been that the money is in the list. But, as a newbie I am confused on how to get a list?

I have a few sites that I would like to build up a list for, but I am unsure on how to get started. Is there a special script I can install on my wordpress sites to collect the emails, and then do I use a program like Aweber to follow up with them--to do the marketing?

I'm just a little confused but really anxious to learn...any tips or feedback you can offer me will be greatly appreciated!

For sure, it just makes life a million times easier.

Build the list, ask what they want in a roundabout way, then sell it. Simple! It gives you the flexibility of trying multiple affiliate offers, and ultimately your own product creation.

It requires traffic generation just like anything else, though.

You also have to provide some sort of incentive for them to signup.

Emails are closely guarded by a lot of people that are afraid of getting junk mail. You have to really provide value to get them to signup.

Your auto-responder will provide the code that you can paste into webpages, and if you want it on a blog you can make a text widget and just paste the code right into that.

I can only add to what has been great info. After you have set up a way to capture subscribers info, it would be a nice boon to you if you can offer a subscriber a mini learning course in your niche.
So as you give quality information over a certain period of time, you will find people willing to give you their info in exchange for valuable info.
      Good luck!

Interesting, thanks everyone for the great information!

Sounds like Aweber would be a great resource for me, as it seems like an all-in-one solution.

You know I was just chatting about this concept at the Friday Night Chat (warrior chat) Welcome To George Sepich's Friday Night Chat

The thing I really got out of the conversation is to boil the concept of "the money is in the list" back to; the money is in keeping in contact with your prospects and clients and building a professional and trusting relationship with them.

So the key is to find a way to make initial contact with people that sets a good foundation. This means giving, selling or creating them something of really high quality.

From there, the way you stay in contact with them can really be anything. It can be an Aweber mailing list or a membership site or anything at all. The key is you have some tool that will let you continually grow the relationship.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Aweber does have a form creator so you can make your e-mail sign-up form look attractive. You place it on your page, with the incentive to sign up as RMC said, and the names and e-mails are kept track of at Aweber. You can manage your e-mail lists and messages you send right there.

You can write a series of e-mail messages or newsletters, called followups, that get sent to subscribers at intervals you've designated, such as one immediately after they confirm the subscription, another one a few days later, and then maybe once a week, every second week, once a month, whatever. If you can have a series prewritten before you even start, it takes a lot of the pressure off.

Then when you have a time-sensitive offer or one-time announcement, you can send a "broadcast" to your list that everyone will get at the same time.

It really works well, and it's not that expensive, especially if you get a free or low-cost trial. Even once you are paying the regular price, the price increases only as your subscriber count increases.

    Hope this helps!

special script I can install on my wordpress sites to collect the emails
Just to be clear...you don't just "collect" emails as people visit your site, you have to "inspire" them to opt-in to your form by adding at least their email address and clicking the submit button on their own. You don't just see them visit your website and then steal their email address and start sending stuff to them.

Here's a quick way to get educated on the process, and what Aweber can do for you:

    How To Videos and Walkthroughs

They also have a webinar you can check out. This will get you up to speed on Aweber. Your other options would be GetRespone or IMNica. There are others, but those are the three I have looked at most closely.

Definitely go with Aweber they are the best around point blank! All their emails actually get delivered to your customers inbox they have cool forms, tools, etc...

Your next step would be giving away free content as in E-Books to entice your visitors to sign up with you! Awebers offering $1.00 signups for new subscribers for the first month try it out and see how it goes for you.

The most important step is getting traffic to your squeeze page so you can build your list. Submit articles, post on this forum, comment on blogs related to your niche, social media websites help, twitter, make a few youtube video's, submit a few press releases, and write some free classifieds to drive people to your squeeze page, or sign up form.

And definitely the money is in the list.... Good luck!
