I recently started my third blog, which is about teaching. I am using host gator, WordPress and using the Flex Theme. Everything went fine in the set up. I added my featured images, pages (such as the about page, privacy policy, etc) and plugins. I even started to add some affiliate ads to the page. I also added a Feedburner widget to the side. Then all of a sudden everything reversed back to how it was before....the images were gone and all the pages I had created. The plugins remained though... Now when I try to fix the things I am not able to. It tells me error when I upload the images and it says privacy policy cannot be created. What could have happened? Thanks!

The site is www.teachingeasyas123.com

I have more info....every picture is not showing up. I am getting this error message: Thumbnail generation error: Could not find requested file attachment (8)

    Any ideas?

I also went back into host gator and re-uploaded the theme...it didn't help.

    Hi

Try going and changing the theme to one of the generic Wordpress themes and see if they are visible when you do this.

That will tell you then if it is a theme problem and not a wordpress one.

      Hi Quentin,

I did that and it wasn't the theme. In addition, when I try to add a post just to test, it says, "No posts found." When you visit the site itself, it says, "Page not found." Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Since you don't have any posts yet you can simply delete the Wordpress installation and then reinstall Wordpress using cPanel > Fantastico. The other alternative is you can ask a friend who knows something about wordpress and who you can trust to log in to your server and try fix it.

Unfortunately you might have to pull your site down and reload it. I would try that. Other than that I have no idea. Who is your hosting company? I know Host Gator helps some with Wordpress.

I think this thread is going to teach us all to backup our hard work within wordpress. I am sorry but it sounds like an error may have occurred in your root directory. I would try reloading WP.

    1. Can you check the DB via the phpmyadmin from your cPanel? - If yes, see if the posts are there in the DB or not.

    2. How were you editing the template files (when adding your aff links etc.) - If online, you might screwed up your template files.

Have you tried deactivating all of the plug-ins to see if one of them has caused the problem?

I would then do what is suggested and delete and reload. I think you have already done it.

Have you asked your host to check their end to see if the info is still there? They might be able to do something for you.
