Need Need Feedback How Many Seconds for popover is ideal?

Marketers need a little feedback trying to build my list I currently have my opt in form popup delayed 10 seconds when someone visits my blog. What is the ideal delay in your opinion is ideal without irritating people, and still getting the job done!

If your target is sign ups 5 secs.

Can't think of another reason for popovers - so 5 secs

Yeah but I think that is too quick some people get mad and will just leave your website, or blog, I am gonna try 30 seconds and see what happens. If it doesn't help I will give the 5 sec timer a try thanks for your input!

The problem with 30 seconds is that many visitors will have left by then. You only have a few moments to grab the attention

Test it and see, as you say.

yeah you have a point I went with your 5 sec recommendation. I need to put it to the test the people that leave in under 5 seconds in my opinion you prob do not want on your list anyways. If they do not take the time to see what kind of info you are offering. But I do see your point ill update you on my results.

Check your analytics for the average time on page. Test setting it for a few seconds less than that.

Either that, or consider testing one of those lightbox scripts that pops up immediately and grays out the rest of the page, kind of like an interstitial.

    Hi there,

It really depends on your proposal. If it's an easy sale then go for it within 5 seconds. If it's a bit more complicated, it may be a good idea to allow them to digest what they've just read. Bit of an art form really and could be different every time.

Run through your sale on-line and see what would be realistic. Test and change if necessary.

    Hth?

    best regards
