Hi, I have a site registered with godaddy and hosted on my hostgator account (not a reseller account) How easy is it to transfer the content + domain from me to someone who potentially purchases the site? Thanks, sorry for the newb question. Dennis |

If they have the same domain registrar (IE: Godaddy) then it is real simple. As far as moving the site itself, I use ftp. Real easy in most cases.

if the site is like Wordpress or Joomla and it saves its data in a database, then that's more problematic than if it's just some files that you need to move. If you plan to sell sites, it's best to have a reseller account. You'd set it up as a separate account + domain, then when you sell it, you simply send them the login info for that account and push them the domain name. Takes 30 secs. -David |

So if they don't have any sites currently, they can just sign up for godaddy without buying a domain and I should be able to transfer the domain to them and then they can use their own hosting.. right?

opening an acct with GD lets you get a domain name. No hosting is implied. That's another benefit about having a reseller account. You can give them 30 days to move the site, or charge them for a year of hosting. YOU don't need to do anything yourself. Also, you'll find that a lot of folks here (incl me) much prefer NameCheap to GD for domain registrations. |

Pushing a domain from Godaddy account is really simple. If they have a Godaddy account, the push is instant, if not , it takes 3-5 days to complete. For moving the site files, you can read this tutorial made by a fellow Warrior: http://domainingdiva.com/website-fli...st-to-another/ Cheers A Bary |
