Default How to choose keywords for Clickbank products? "Review" or "How to"??

hi all

i'm still very new with all this affiliate marketing but in learning about Clickbank products and methods to promote them as an affiliate, I've come across a crossroads.

Many people suggest picking a domain like product-name-review dot com and then your keywords would be like "product name review", "product name bonus" etc.

But for the average buyer, how often are they going to know about an online product??

Would they likely search "how to get rid of a 'problem'"?? So then shouldn't my domain and keywords be how-to-get-rid-of-a-problem dot com.

Then my site could talk about the clickbank product and have hop links to the sellers product page. Would that be just as effective?

Also, are product-name-review dot com sites more for your mailing lists since its a product you're promoting??

Sorry if my questions are all over the place. Thanks

Any one searching for "product + review" is probably interested in buying. However, the domain name does not matter much, except if you intend selling the site latter.

You want a keyword rich domain name but you don't want it to be too look or spammy ( what-is-the-best-blabla.com is spammy ).

right, but the "average" user searching for a solution to their problem isn't going to know about that product.

so is it better to use keywords that are more generic to the problem rather than a review?

Like I said, the domain name doesn't matter much, you just want to make it related to the keyword and as short as possible.

You can always have sub domains for any keywords you want Or posts on the keywords you want if the site is wordpress based.

Good point, don't create a website for something that will be taken over eventually by something newer and better. Create a good name catcher domain, and create subdomains with that. When the next big thing comes along, you can just add another subdomain.

Either one will work but it depends on the product and the niche. People do search product name + review for many CB products. Do your keyword research and you will find that out quite often.

Test it out. That's really all you can do and find out what works for you.

Here is my 2 cents...

For ANYTHING you get into, you want to DOMINATE the search engine for your niche. So, why not get product-name-review.com and get how-to-get-rid-of-a-problem dot com? You can have as many websites and blogs as you want. Wal-Mart didn't become a huge corporation by only having 1 store.

I have only done "review" domain name sites for HUGE product launches and not for Clickbank products. It's worked pretty well for the huge product launches because people are actually searching for a specific product name review or bonus.

Thanks JennSpencerIM. That's makes so much sense. I guess those review sites only work if theres a lot of buzz going around for that product so that people actually search for reviews.

I actually used the Google Slapper technique on a JV product launch but made no sales because I don't think it was a huge product. I successfully got to page one of Google using "review" and "bonus" but I guess people weren't making a lot of searches

I will now try to focus on more generic keywords for my first attempt at promoting a Clickbank product.

Remember that using a trade marked product name in you domain name is illigal. The product name belongs to the owners of the product. If the clickbank vendor really wanted to he could have the domain legally transferred to him, or get it shot down.

Still this is not common, but never the less. Be carefull about using Trade Marks in you domain name.
