Best Platform for Short Term Trends?

When we talk about capitilising on a short term trend ie:Tiger Woods, Michael Jacksons passing, IPad launch; what is the best platform to build a small site/blog on?

I don't always like to buy a domain for a trend that may be short lived,and they tend to be targeted CPA type sites, so in that case what do you work with for such trends?

Blogspot? Wordpress? Squidoo?

Wordpress always seems to get the job done easiest too me and can only get easier once you get the setup down to a art but haven't used many others really

Pardon the bump ladies and gents. Just wanted to see if any regular warriors had a preference for trend marketing.
I'm using google glogger at the mo but not sure I like the idea of having 100's of short lived mini blogs sitting on the account.

What about using a $1 .info domain, then?

Or a free one from .co.cc, if the domain-name doesn't matter?

I'm not really sure what's wrong with having hundreds of short-lived mini-blogs sitting on your Blogspot account, but there are some other options there, anyway.

I'd forget Squidoo/Hub completely, no point in sharing your traffic. And Wordpress.com is no good at all because you can't monetise. For myself, I'd use a nearly-free domain-name. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I use blogspot and create a separate blog for each trend.

Works just fine and doesn't cost a cent.

Make sure the blog actually has some decent content on it and you won't
have to worry about them shutting you down.

I've been doing this for over a year and a half with no problems.

And contrary to what a lot of people think, Blogspot blogs can rank very
well and some of these trends actually turn into long term money makers.

You just have to pick the right ones.

For example.

A trend on a well known celebrity who just happens to be hot right now
will probably bring traffic for a while, as opposed to somebody who you
never heard of who just happens to be in the news one day for doing
something stupid.

Those trends tend to die off a lot faster.
