how to increase earnings from high-traffic site

Hi All,
I'm looking for tips on how I can increase earnings from this site:
fertilitystories.com
It has about 50K visitors a month according to Google Analytics
Its earnings are not that great though various monetization options have been tried - Adsense, Amazon, etc.. My partner suggests that we go for sponsorships - i.e. me approaching potential advertisers and asking them to sponsor for a monthly or annual fee.
Has anyone gone this route before? Got any tips.
Do you have any other general ideas for how we can increase earnings?

    Try affiliate products other than those from amazon - Commission Junction for example. Find a product related to your niche and promote it on your website.

    Another route you could go down is promoting products on an affiliate basis, and many people here do exactly that. It might take a little trial and error to seek out quality products related to your niche, and then testing their conversions and revenue against each other in split testing, but this imo could be more money than just getting monthly sponsorship - almost definitely more money than adsense revenue. Essentially a sponsor would be putting his banners on your site and making a profit on the difference of his product sales and your advertising costs - if you have a little patience and are willing to expiriment I think you can cut this middle man out.
