Are $1 products feasible? How about costs?

Just curious. If I could devise a $1 product, how much would I lose to Paypal for fees? Also, would people purchase a $1 product? I thought of doing an audio download of a few funny personal stories, such as the time I drove a box truck into a bank, and maybe other ones too. I figured that I could get funny stories, and sell maybe a 5-10 minute block for $1. I'd like to fancy myself as a 21st century Jerry Clower, who, for those that don't know, was a very clean and family oriented comedian. I'd like to use that gifting in combination with the intenet to make some money, with no contracts, no records, no travelling, etc.

    Can I give you a suggestion?

    Instead of selling for $1, make it $5... I will explain.

    Step 1: Set up a paypal subscription for 5 dollars (one time) and a trial period of 7 days.

    Step 2: On your sales page, explain that your visitors can download without paying. If they don't want to pay you, they can unsubscribe, and keep your product as a gift.

    Step 3: Promote your sales page with the new order link.

    The idea behind this:

    1: It takes the same effort to sell a $1 product vs. a $5 product.
    2. Most people who subscribed to get your download will forget to unsubscribe within 7 days, and paypal will bill them on the 8th day. When they get the paypal email saying they have paid their subscription, it is too late for them to unsubscribe.
