...first of all, for you all to pretend you believe me when I say I'm turning 29. Thank you. Thank you very much.

I don't care that I have a 14 year old and 12 year old. I'm freaking 29, ok???

And secondly...your best tip on:

if you were to do start internet marketing all over again, knowing what you do now, what would you do differently? How would you jumpstart the whole process and start making money faster, and/or what newbie mistakes would you not make again?

      If you have to start over again than the best thing i can say is you got to be FOCUS.

      I would advice you to have a product and just go for it with yr 100% and definately you can do it.

      Dana really doesn't look a day over 29. However, there is a LOT wrong with being a Cougar...especially when you are in Husky territory.

    Happy Birthday Dana! Funny....I just turned 29 on the 1st!!

    I would take some of the money I spent on buying all the ebooks and guides, and put it into my business - having articles written, content for websites, etc. - instead of thinking I could build it without spending anything (which of course I was anyway on the thousands of ebooks I bought!)

    I needed to learn so much and it was good that I took the time to do most of the stuff myself, but I could have outsourced so much and been ahead of the game.

    And, I would have focused on just one thing at a time - instead of getting sidetracked every time a new product came out

    I had you pegged for 25, but hey.....

    If I had to start all over again I would have studied online copy writing a whole lot sooner. I had a background in direct mail copy writing and I discovered that online sales copy was quite a different animal. Secondly, I would have attended a good seminar a whole lot sooner. Thirdly, I would have created my own product (and line of products) sooner. Fourthly, I would have had a multiple-back-end strategy before I created my first product.

    Fifthly, I would have invested in paid advertising a whole lot sooner. Sixthly, I would have dated a lot less and focused more on my business. Seventhly, I would NOT have spent my first year in IM jumping from program to program, never really fully commiting to anything and not mastering at least one traffic generating technique. Eighthly, I would have reinvested my profits back into my business instead of spending it on martinis.

    I think that should keep you going for a bit.......

    I would definitley have started with affiliate marketing rather than trying to create my own products. That way I could have made money sooner, then reinvested that money to create the info proudcts.

    It's true that info products have the largest profit margins, but they require much more time and/or money investment.

    As to what I would to different. I would start and stay focused and have a plan. Not just try this and that. Have the discipline to start one project and don't start until it's finished.

    If I were starting over, I would try to stay more focused and work harder on one project instead of starting one and then keep on looking for others while I should have stayed focused on the first one long enough to make it successful.

      I would've kept my job longer (ironic, I know) instead of trying to jump into this full time. What I gained in hours I lacked in business capital, and I didn't really know how to best use the hours I'd gained.

    because I learnt from them and they are my life's stories. I could
    never be where I am without my mistakes as well.

    I would have produced several products FIRST. I would have written several "freebie" reports, ebooks and videos too. By doing this, there are no monthly costs until AFTER the product is ready to be sold. I've paid autoresponder fees, hosting fees, membership fees, etc. for over a year - and I am just now coming out with my own product. Building my product first, then getting all the necessary promotional tools would have saved my hundreds of dollars! And some stress.

    Then I would have gotten all the necessary tools to sell products online . . . such as a website, domain name, hosting, autoresponder, etc.

    I'll be picking up your Twitter product too! $7? Gotta love it : )

    When I first started our very first forum, back in 1997 no one had to register. We never even thought about getting peoples names and didn't start adding the registration bit until 2000! What an idiot!

    It as a phpbb script and one day it crashed with over 10,000 threads and we had no way to recover any of the usernames - we never required them to have one, they were all guests.

    Happy birthday Dana! Today is actually my birthday also. Libras rock!

    If I had to start over, I don't think I'd do anything different. I would create a tipping point product which customers really want and affiliates can make lots of money from. Then I would build an entire business around the traffic - starting with building a list and then creating a community which produces user generated content and even more traffic. Then I would launch new products and membership sites to my list until I ran out of creative ideas.

    As for the question: I would've bought more stuff from the 'gurus'. I mean, people who practice what they preach (outside of the IM niche). Such people are really passionate in teaching IM. That makes such an experience much more valuable and can kick-start your IM.
